I just noticed that MacRumors has now decreased to #22. It's seems that I'm the same position with decreasing in rank #166 & #20,047. All of the faster machines are making a diference in my rank position.

bousozoku the link still needs to be updated. It gives and error message when checking stats, requires another click.

Excuse me, but what link is that?

Ive been folding mine for over a week and its a 65%. Just give it time, it should be worth alot of points. I don't know much about tinker and gromas, so maybe another folder can explain. But i do know that a Tinker takes quite a while to fold in a G5.
All details of individual projects, their aims, and points values are available here.

I just added 2 iMac g5's, 1.6 and 1.8 ghz. after about 25 minutes, its at .28 percent on a p878_p53dimer8. Is that normal? Its been at .28 for a while, maybe the percent doesnt update often?

If you have tiger,

"spotlight" unitinfo.txt. Otherwise it is in your home directory in the Folding@home folder. That file is the true status of the current work unit your system is processing.

It's been repaired.

Yes, its working now thank you bousozoku. It was annoying, knew that you would be the correct person to ask. Now if we can just move up in rank. ;)

I can't fix that as easily. Both machines are folding 24/7. 50,000+ points since 2002.

MacRumors standing strong!

Well, it looks like we've fended of the Knights for now.
last time i checked they were going to overtake us in only 60 days, right now it will take them 637 days! HAHA! :D
We even have another team to overtake showing at the horizon. If we keep up the pase we'll have 'General [M]ayhem' in 762 days. We will have to find a way to stop the knights though. Maybe we should plant some nice, big shrubberies along the way.

It looks like a lot of new members have joined the fold.
Welcome cr2sh_64, rich, mofs, Jeremy, macaddict21, Peewee, BillChase, matperk, Scott_Brown, stevebeam and hob! All these people have joined in the last 7 days. Welcome! And thank you, look at the team stats (link in sig) to see the diffrerence you're making. Output has gone up! Jeej!

We will need more members/CPU time to speed things up, and to keep 'Overclockers Club' from taking us over in 119 days though...
(I thought it'd be best to write the - somewhat - bad news in the end)

Wauw!

Yesterday (06.16.05) our team produced 70,217 points with 499 WUs!
This made our 24hr avg to go up to 50,659.

The closest threat there is is now 2036 days away (Portugal@Folding #58).

Let's keep this up!

team summary
team overtake

Well, I just added my home computer - which is on often enough, but my dad would kill me if I left it running 24/7. Oh well, it's another little processor chugging along for Macrumors Team Folding!

Could someone explain to me what a "Tinker core" is? Is it just a different kind of protien or something? Also, if you don't finish the frame in the time till the "next frame end", what happens?

Thanks!
Tea

EDIT: Oh, and how do you tell if you're finishing the frames in time?

EDIT EDIT: Lol, keep thinking of things. What would be really cool would be to get my school to do this. All those computers sitting on here and there. Anyone know if it would work when noone's signed into one of those network thingys they use?

Then all I'd need to do would be to get them to use my username. :D

There are 3 small programs for folding, all from the main program. Each program handles different WU's. You have the Gromacs, Tinkers, and another one, which is windows only. We prefer the Gromacs core workunits.

Which program did you download for folding? The text only, or the Graphical one?

It's fun at the beginning, but when you are past that, take the no nonsense text console, or the script of mc68k (especially use it if you have a dual proc), they are faster then the graphical client.

I still haven't got my new systems folding yet - hopefully in the next couple weeks they will join in for team 3446...

old folders, where are you?

what we need is more of our old folders to jump back in.

Is there anyway we can email them and invite them to help?

We need bertman and FritzTheWonderMutt to get their groove back!

We are kicking some serious folding butt these days. Four teams to pass on the horizon and three of them by February! Having some issues with my "farm" in Atlanta, but hopefully that will get sorted out as my compatriot gets things handled.

But all the good news doesn't mean we can slack off! Gotta keep those Knights away and regain a spot in the top 20...

I totally agree! We almost where overtaken by the tin cans (knights) again and a few other teams, but with the production we are now having, they are way back. We have done a great job in the last few weeks, also a room full of computers has been added lately, and it seems that it makes a big difference!

I think someone should keep an email list of all 3446 folders. that way, we can send out a semi-annual newsletter or similar - that way, we can remind people to keep folding that may otherwise never come back.

ideas?

It's a very nice idea. The only problem is that to some it could be considered a nuisance. I would recommend that you PM arn or one of the Mods to see what they think.

We have many good ideas that never seem to come to fruition.

The knights do a nice job of keeping as many folders in as possible. It's a damn ugly site, but someone on their team has a lot of time to update the info... or they have some nice scripts running to do it for them.

I'm not saying we should have a site like this (ooh the work), there are probably other ways of retaining interest. Mail doesn't seem that bad, but i really don't like spam, and we don't want anyone to think/feel we spam, do we?

A widget maybe ;) :D
