I meant the using the inline 'attach' tags - seems like you need to upload the image(s), determine the URL so as to get the attachment ID, and then manually type it in with tags (otherwise the images all appear below the post). Am I (not surprisingly) missing something?

Oh, yeah...thorry again. MacNut's got it...I really hate that the screenshots in that guide are in Windows though!

I use the paperclip button. One click to bring up the window, upload, close window. A second click to reopen the window (annoying bug), close. A third click to get the option to insert the image into my post.

Ah... the paperclip.

I learn something new every day here. Fortunately, today it was something useful. Thanks all! Of course, now I'll need to use the icons above the reply box instead of, as always, typing in the tags myself. Oh well. ;)

I do that, but most others don't, just go for a cruise in the setup threads, most space is just pictures in quotes.
I agree, and I wish quote renders would reformat images to links (aside from attachments, which already work that way as mentioned above). No one needs to see the image again.

Shush you.

Sorry, vniow...you know I love you!

I understand that you can only work with what you have at your disposal at the time. You clearly didn't choose to take the screenies in Windows. (Thanks for putting the article together...it really is quite helpful! Really! :D )

I would think that a modification that would reformat images in quotes would be great. With the new link in the quote feature, there's absolutely no need to quote an image, as you can go back to the original post to see the image so easily.

There's also a new throttling feature - we set a posts-per-day limit on individual members, and, if they exceed that, older posts (possibly from years ago) get deleted so as to limit their effective posting rate. Very nice, actually.j/k

**Gasp**

Say it is not so! ;) :D

Shortcut: To quote two previous posts, you can click the multi-quote icon next to one and the Quote button next to the other.

The same system works when you have a number of them to multi-quote. You can click the Quote button next to the last one to be quoted. That's a tiny bit simpler than clicking its multi-quote icon and then clicking the Reply button.

We should each avoid getting carried quoting many posts at once, unless they really are all relevant to the point you want to make.

I've noticed that the multi-quote feature keeps track of the order in which you click the icons. The quoted posts don't have to be in the order in the thread.

If you click a bunch of multi-quote icons and then change your mind, you can delete the quoted text from your post before submitting it.

If you change your mind about posting a reply at all, you can unclick the multi-quote icon next to each post you multi-quoted, assuming you can spot them. The icons change color and switch between + and -, but the vBulletin developers probably don't realize that the change from + to - is very subtle for those of us who are color blind. I can't easily spot multi-quote icons that I've clicked, so undoing them is a pain.

However, I found a sneaky trick for clearing them all without having to find them:
In a new tab or window, go to another thread, click Reply, and you'll see the message
You have selected n post(s) that are not part of this thread. Quote these posts as well, or deselect these posts.
Click "deselect these posts". Then you can close that tab or window instead of actually replying.
