Several iCloud services are experiencing problems this afternoon, according to Apple's System Status Page.

iCloud Drive, iCloud Mail, iCloud Keychain, iCloud Contacts, iCloud Calendar, Mail Drop, Find My iPhone, and more are performing "slower than normal" for some users.

The problem has been ongoing since 8:51 a.m. Pacific Time this morning, and there's no word on when it might clear up.

If you've been noticing problems with iCloud services, this outage is the reason why. We'll update this post when the problem is resolved.

What a time for the servers to go down... the one time in two years I need iCloud to upgrade phones... :p

What's really been bugging me about iCloud is that since the last OS upgrade, I have to sign into iCloud every single time I boot my Mac, and then it proceeds with "Setting up your Mac". Every single time. I was told to sign out of iCloud and then sign back in, which I did. That fixed the problem for one reboot. I also don't like that if I sign out of iCloud and elect to save what's on my Mac, it deletes what's on my Mac. What is it with Apple and cloud services?

That sounds more like a problem with your OS

Yeah, that's definitely not normal. I have Mojave too and never saw that initial Setting up your Mac screen after the first time on Mojave or any other version I can remember.

What is it about your installation/setup that is different? Most don't have this experience, so something must be going on. for example, I have never experienced this issue. What is the reason for all the reboots, this isn't Windows? Something weird there? I would run diagnostic, make sure there are no hardware issues, recheck your iCloud settings, then do a recovery.

These days I always am concerned about hackerholes, I run Avast, and occasionally use CCleaner, Malwarebytes, and Bitdefender, But I will admit, I've never found a problem (although Avast does block some websites now and then as malicious)

You mean Apple acknowledged the issue 8:51 a.m. Pacific Time. I’ve had iCloud mail issues for past 3 days.

No, MacRumors published a story about it. Apple provides system status here: Apple's System Status Page. https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/

Haven't been able to sign in all day. Must be a day of reckoning for IT or something because we had an internet outage this morning that lasted for hours and now iCloud is down also.

Not positive, last I've read that iCloud's services relies in part on Amazon's servers. I use AWS with my business. I got an email from Amazon a few days ago that they were moving from Oracle's DB SW to Amazon's own Aurora PostgreSQL DB SW today (early this morning, I recall). AWS has been spotty all day, but I planned for it. I'd read that Aurora choked on Prime Day a few months ago, so no surprise today - I scheduled couriers today and tomorrow for critical deliveries and glad that I did now...

I have no idea. It's a 2013 Mac Pro, and I don't leave it running all the time. When I'm done with it, I shut it down. The problem appeared after one of the later High Sierra updates. It went away briefly when I updated to Mohave but has persisted since. I can't think of anything unusual that I did. I'm using the Mac the same way I have been for the past five years. The only difference is that I got an iCloud subscription last year.

Nothing is working for me. iCloud shows up blank in iOS settings on my iPhone, photos aren't downloading/uploading, and icloud.com isn't working. Really pretty bad.

I'm relieved though, I thought something had happened to my account. Reassuring to know that it's systemwide.

I'm glad I'm not the only one... I've been having mail issues (connection issues to iCloud mail servers) since before the weekend and it's getting old lol. Went up the chain with Apple support on Friday and they just said it was linked to the previous mail issue on the Apple system status page. Hopefully they fix it right this time...

Is it true that some of Apple's cloud infrastructure runs from AWS? From my knowledge, AWS has been migrating out of Oracle and into their own platforms and this has been causing outrages for them too, which could impact Apple consequentially.

I bought a Xs Max last night, and had trouble getting past the two factor authentication. I called Apple customer service, and they had me start the account recovery process, which lasts 24 hours. I found a workaround to get access back into the account at around 1 PM, only to find out that many iCloud services have been down. It’s hard to believe all these services are still down. I still can’t restore from a backup.:(
