Multiple iCloud Services Experiencing Issues

Good thing I don't use many iCloud services. Don't put all your eggs into one basket as they say.

Even when I upgrade my iPhone I started a full backup at home first then did my iCloud backup. Only with both done did I replace the phone. Just in case iCloud was overwhelmed, but fortunately at the time it wasn't.

Does some of iCloud run on AWS?

Yes, though the architecture seems complex and is definitely not 100% public. It its main IOS 11 security guide, Apple confirms chunks of data stored in S3 (and other vendors' platforms).

My iPhone kept asking me to enter the Apple ID password last night. There was a line in the Settings app saying 'Update Apple ID Settings: Some account services will not be available until you sign in again.'

Even though I typed in my correct password, I was in an infinite loop...

I Googled the problem, and found a post with a similar case on Reddit (in 2015). Someone there said it was a widespread issue. I then went to the iCloud system status — bingo, iCloud-related services were (are) down.

It's coming back now. Luckily I didn't turn off & on iCloud, sign out, sign back in. Next time when there's an iCloud-related problem, check the status page first. But this outrage was quite long...

No issues for me.
I have had 100% uptime for all iCloud services for years now. Nobody else comes close to 100%.

Despite apple staying the issue is resolve my iCloud linked cals are still down for me.

Unreal. Enough to change platforms.

And those "sign in to iCloud" generic boxes?
Have to be more specific. iCloud backup? Rogue app pretending to be iOS or MacOS?
So they can't even push a "Network sys error" to our screens? Even in 1980 we could push a msg to every console.
