Before the iPhone 3.0 software was released I'm sure that I saw a feature demoed that allowed you to select multiple photos to send in an email as attachments. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes you can.

In the Photo Album, click the "share" button (the rectangle with arrow). You can now tap on the images you wish to share, copy, or delete.
