Can you explain what that means? Baseband crashing? Thanks
It’s when the QUALCOMM modem is unable when the signal goes down to reestablish a handshake to the next tower so it crashes instead… The only way to reestablish the connection is either to reboot the phone or toggle airplane mode

Can this be fixed with a software/firmware update or is the entire iPhone 12 line “doomed” now?

Not reading all these but my 12 pro max on ATT would go to No Service while driving. Airplane mode toggling doesn’t fix it. I have to turn off and on which is dangerous while driving. So I have to pull over or get off the freeway to turn the phone off and on. Then it works.
Same here, 12 pro max grap 512gbs

Well I hope they resolved the issues in 14.3RC iOS software because the carrier and modem version is the exact same as 14.3 beta 3.

Edit: AirPods Pro stability is still rubbish. They work great on my iPad but cut in and out on my 12 Pro.

I just experienced a little buggy moment with the AirPods Pro on 14.3 (18C65)...

Anecdotal: I was listening to music on Bluetooth, and had a timer set, and when the time was up the alarm sounded and muted the music once I hit stop to the timer, the music resumed… This is the same thing that’s supposed to happen in between towers seamless handshakes... hope Apple, Qualcomm, carriers and the rest, will update to squash these bugs!!

Yes it can be fixed via software.
Highly doubt it. I spent about an hour at the ATT store yesterday, then another 2 hours at the Apple store while they were diagnosing my phone. They made an appt for me to have my phone exchanged for a new one in the morning. According to the Genius, “it’s a hardware issue. And they are aware of it. But it is only happening to a minuscule amount of devices”.

Thanks for the info, i’m heading into a genius bar later. This is what happens with my service, check the video

Update. They replaced my phone yesterday. The repair specialist confirmed there is a issue on some devices with the Hardware that recognizes the 5G Sim, and it also affects Bluetooth. So if anyone was wondering why the handoff between their AirPods or CarPlay has issues. There you go.

I don’t have carplay to test but my AirPods for music are terrible. Does that mean I have the hardware issue? Also dropped calls.

My 12 Pro has a difficult time connecting to my network (T Mobile). Especially if the phone is powered off and then back on. I currently have no service here at home, where I normally have 5G. This phone is trash.

Heard back from Apple phone support today. Per them.. this is a known issue that affects Verizon users on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. I was assured that “there is nothing wrong with the hardware and that a fix will eventually be made over software”. 🙄

Advised me to just sit and wait & even if I did request my phone to be replaced there’s no guarantee that the issue would be resolved.

Going to put 14.3 RC on my phone and see if things work better before pushing for a replacement

I may be speaking too soon but after trying everything with Apple form resetting up my phone from a clean "iTunes restore" and Verizon doing changes on their end and a SIM swapped, I did swap out my 12 Pro hardware with Apple and so far.....no issues. I was having issues with cell connection dropouts, difficulty connecting (seeing the "pulsing" of the cell trying to connect others have described) as well as not being able to receive incoming calls intermittently. So far...none of those have reoccurred with the new hardware. I've also had issues with missing iMessages/text messages which seems to be solve now as well. Don't know if that's also related to the new hardware or all the other things I had done with Apple and Verizon. I got the new hardware the day of 14.3 release so the new release may have helped too.

I just got my phone swapped out by Apple 2 days ago. So far no issues but I haven’t traveled out the house much just yet. I had to really push for the replacement and this wasn’t a “standard procedure” to have one swapped out for this issue. The Genuis was vague but after doing the switch he did say that there’s no guarantee that things will be better but that from what he’s read this “probably will fix the issue”.

I've walked the same route 3 times now where I had the dropouts in the past and 🤞seems to have no problems now! I'm in an area that has Verizon 5GUW, 5G and LTE all within my trips so it makes me feel pretty good that I'm making it through that "gauntlet" with no issues. Yeah, I had around 6 chats/calls with Apple and was escalated to a person "taking ownership" of my problems before I could get the swap out. It was done under my Apple Care. I guess "taking ownership" is an official mode of support as other agents actually referenced that.

I have the iPhone 12 Pro on 14.3 and my 5G stopped working too. They looked over chat and all settings are fine. Wife’s mini next to mine is time.

Luckily I have an Apple store 15 minutes away but very disappointing. I’ll get to stand there an hour while they click and hope they swap it. Sucks they won’t at least replace my screen protector I bet. Ugh.

sorry for the late reply, but i wouldn't put it past it. from what I've been hearing from other people Apple support keeps trying to blame it on the carriers. But its definitely an iPhone issue. My housemate just had to take his in. 12PM 256 (same phone as mine but Tmobile instead of ATT) Support said it was probably something wrong with Tmobile. My replacement phone is unlocked, I tossed his sim in mine and it worked perfectly. Put it into my 11PM still worked. They are exchanging his after the holiday. Meanwhile he's stuck on wifi. (when it even connects to that)

I find it highly amusing that they keep telling people to blame their carriers. I've got a sneaking suspicion it's about to be the "You're holding it wrong" debacle all over again.

Sigh.. unfortunately I’m still having the same issue on the replacement iPhone. I’m on 14.3 right now.. going to give the 14.4 beta a shot tonight and see how it performs tomorrow. Left my apartment today and drove 3 miles without service (had to toggle airplane mode to get it back). I got service as soon as I toggled airplane mode so at least that method has been more reliable recently but still unacceptable.

We had a medical emergency involving our dog and my girlfriend couldn’t even reach me the other day. Called me 5 times and nothing went through on my end — they didn’t even show up as missed calls for me after the fact. Fortunately everything ended up being okay but this is seriously so out of hand. If I don’t have any luck on the beta I’ll probably just switch from Verizon to T-Mobile next month.

I’m glad other people are having success after getting their phones replaced though.

Issue is 100% in full effect on 14.4 beta. I let the Apple care advisor know.. keeping my case open. They said they’ll communicate to the software engineers to at least let them know the issue is still not resolved despite new hardware.

Ok so latest update from Apple is that this is a known issue on Verizon’s end that affects all iPhone 12 models on Verizon and all bands (not just 5G and 4G).

There’s an open global ticket for this issue that Apple has with Verizon (NRB000010333930) and if you’re affected then should reach out to Verizon and give them that ticket number. There’s no fix however... just a waiting game. But the more people that call and give them that ticket number the better so that this can continue to be documented accurately.

Going to reengage Verizon tomorrow.

Happened for the seventh time since I got the new iPhone 12 from Verizon. Most of the time a simple on/off in Airplane Mode fixes the connectivity. Not today. I had to reboot the phone to get a connection.

Spoke with Verizon today. First off the NRB ticket given to me apparently was not correct. The correct one is NRB000010329791. Per Verizon the issue not specific to Verizon and affects all carriers worldwide. They weren't able to offer any resolution other than to continue to and wait for an iOS release that resolves the issue. They opened up a new network investigation ticket since I'm on a newer version of iOS since the last time they did one but again.. no resolution still. Both Apple and Verizon acknowledge that this issue exists but neither are taking ownership.
