I'm with you about the X hype... don't get it either.

Ok lets see... What does it have that my 8 Plus doesn't?

Face ID? Unproven.

Full screen? Ok... but there's still a notch.

Dual OIS? Great... but I don't buy cell phones because of their cameras.

Not sure what else I'm missing but what I've listed so far definitely isn't anything that would have me up all night doing cartwheels while trying to get in a pre-order.

My spot in line is free for the taking. :)
Face ID unproved? Says you? You could say the same about TouchID but yet here we are...

Smaller form factor for almost the same size screen. Not going to nitpick millimeters here with you. I've had the 6, 6 Plus, 6S and finally the 7 plus. The design is boring and I'm done with all this wasted space being taken up at the top and bottom of the phone.

Could honestly care less about Dual OIS

I think it's funny that people are telling Apple what they should've done as far as announcing that it will release in Fall. They know exactly what their yields are and no one on here does. If they choose 11/3 as a launch day, they did so knowing yield rates which no one on here as a clue about.

Bye!

I still firmly believe X will not fully ship on time...

Right, because the 7 fully shipped on time. Oh wait, it didn't
The 6S fully shipped on time. Oh wait, it didn't.
At least the 6 fully shipped on time. Darn it...

I still firmly believe the sun will rise in the east and set in the west.

Right... and if the X hadn't been announced you'd have upgraded to the 8 Plus 2 weeks ago like many of us did... while talking about what a great upgrade it is and not a word mentioned about the "boring" 3 year old design.

C'mon man... lay off the apple kool-aid.

And the X isn't basically a new product? New screen, new front camera array etc..... lots of new parts they have never produced before going into this phone.
No, its not a new product. Air Pods were a new product, a new phone, with new technology, is not for Apple.

The iPhone X is not a new product per se, but it is a new display and form factor coupled with technology. To the average consumer, they see this as a new product, regardless of your Airpods example. We all know the iPhone annually releases, but this is a newer iPhone stepping away from the 6//6s/7/8 chassis.

multiple investor and trading gurus are reporting this morning that the X won’t ship until December and that yields of the phone have not surpassed 10 percent meaning 9 out of then X iPhones are not fit to ship. The Story was first mentioned by Brightwire financial and now the street and other financial investing services are also reporting similar stories from multiple sources and also dropping their forecast for Apple’s year end quarter dramatically.

“Multiple sources expect Apple to announce the device will not ship November 3rd as previously planned due to low yield rates”.

Based on all the data out there, this it has been pretty consistent. Manufacturing delays and the production of these seem to be real and abysmal. One wonders if this won’t really be the flagship in 18 and no changes to the X in 18 will occur but a revamp of the 8 and 8 plus instead? Time will tell, but it is looking highly unlikely that 95% of the public will have an X in 18 regardless of pre-order time.

Never heard of them. Ignore all reporting by such publications, I’ll believe when someone trusted and someone with a great track record like Ming Chi Kuo confirms it.

If there is a further delay it will have a big effect on those of us in the IPhone Upgrade Program. It would mean extra payments on my existing phone and then a two year commitment.

Hopefully it’s not true or if it is they give the few existing phones to upgrade members (he said ducking)

I want to have faith that they actually can get me my new X within a month or 2 of preordering. I want to have this confidence buoyed by the fact that Mr. Cook was the VP os logistics before Mr. Jobs passed on. He knows the ins and outs of what it’s going to take to make it happen. And I want to have faith that they wouldn’t even suggest 11/3 if they knew they weren’t even going to be close to that delivery date.
I don’t mind the notch, not too worried about the different screen aspect ratio.
I have faith that this older man will be quick with the keyboard and get it ordered and get it soon.....
HOWEVER,
I’m reminded of the fiasco of the Jet Black last year., and the AirPods that I don’t want I understand are still on backorder.
I’m reminded that Mr. Cook runs the show a little different from Mr. Jobs.
I remember that every ‘new device or color’ change seems to bring delays,
And I remember that when I stay up to preorder, I’m too jumpy or excited and make at least one mistake, haha
I fear I will see something like 3-4 months or more if I don’t complete preorder in first five minutes.
I believe very likely that on announcement date, they likely thought that they would fix the issues out perhaps quickly and roll out the mass production. Maybe they wouldn’t see that they could even think about having less than 10% yield. But things happen.
I say this all, even working for a major carrier in retention, knowing how inventory drags.
Can’t wait to see how this plays out. The iPhone 8 order was a barely noticeable blip on these forums. Can’t wait to see this blow up.

Apple would never change the date even if true. How would we know if long wait wasn't due to demand. Especially with international release.

I´m very pessimistic about all this.
I think that beside the few who are lucky on Oct27 - 9:01a.m.(Germany) no one will see their new iPhone X this year.

I am not sure why people keep bringing up Air Pod release. Comparing apples to oranges. Air Pods were new product, no sales history. No idea how they would sell. Produced less, so they are not stuck with inventory for months, and demand exceed supply. Really simple. iPhone is Apples #1 product. Have a proven tracked record from a sales perspective. They have a damn good idea what demand will be opening weekend/months. And no, I am not buying that Apple thought they could fix these so called "yield issues" in 6 weeks...while having their largest iPhone launch ever.

AirPods are an easy comparison because they contain less components than an iPhone. If it took Apple a year to get that process nailed down, it could be the same as say a new component i.e. FaceID. There is already a OLED production issue rumor and recently a FaceID(Romeo & Juliet) production issue.

Absolutely would not have touched the 8+. I'm done with the ugly bezels. I honestly don't give a single **** about the notch, I think the complaints are hilarious. I do give a **** about the bezels and I'm done with this design. I'd get rid of my 6s+ and move to the note or pixel. Both are flawed, but at least I shed this awful design.

Do read a lot of this. Some act like they can't ' stomach ' the current design but are carrying. Bashing others that have as to hold themselves better without even seeing ipx and will buy regardless

No reason to be yet. But it may be the case. Who cares? It's a bit annoying, but having a delay in shelling out 1k+ isn't heartbreaking for me.

Just like many seem to try and justify their purchase of the 8/8 plus to not make themselves think they made a mistake by getting an older designed phone.

Don’t get me wrong the 7 plus is still a great phone but there comes a point where spending huge money on a phone that looks the same gets abit old.

No bashing, people can like what they want. Don't care what phones other use, only care what I use...and I'm really tired of looking at these fugly bezels. I'll go with the X without seeing it in person because I'm willing to run that risk. The few hands on videos are enough for me. Some act like they can't stand the notch and they've never seen it either (and they bash those that don't seem to mind...two way street here). If the phone is bad, i'll return it in the 14 day window and move on to something else...but it won't be an 8+ and I'm not waiting it out until next year's apple offerings. Don't even like IOS that much at this point anyway. People take this stuff waay too seriously. It's just a phone.

How is the iPhone X not a new product? Maybe you meant it's not a new product category.

If it weren't a new product, the FCC wouldn't need to certify it.

Every chip and component inside the X is new from the baseband to the Apple application processor. The only thing that is the same is the Lightning cable, EarPods, and power adapter.

Apple was confident enough to announce November 3 as the release date. If they felt uncertain that they could meet that deadline, they'd instead say "coming this fall", or something to that extent, instead of giving a hard date. This latest "development" is no more or no less credible than the report that Apple will have 12 million units available by October 27.
Over 40 million preorders…
A lot of demand, not enough supply.

I don’t hate the design of the 6/6s/7/8 but I’m definitely ready for something new. Like many others I’m not a fan of the notch because of the UI and UX problems I can foresee but I’m still going to preorder and give it a try because of how much more I enjoy iOS over Android. That being said, I’ll be preordering at the exact moment it goes live and if I don’t get a ship date sometime in November, I won’t be getting one. One of the biggest companies in the world should be able to handle this kind of anticipation and demand for their flagship device. Good luck to everyone on here, hope we can all secure one.

No way there will be 40million pre orders

I mean it sucks if true, but I'm having a lot of trouble believing this one. For one, not many reliable sources are claiming this. No NYTimes, Bloomberg, WSJ or even Ming-Chi Kuo. Second, I can't fathom that they are under a 10% yield rate. There's no way Apple is throwing out 9/10 models that come off the manufacturing line. (Not really throwing out, but not shipping to a customer) They'd lose millions/billions. That claim alone makes me feel that this isn't true.
