Multitasking messengers

Beejive IM works great for me. It supports multitasking (fast app switching & save state) and push notifications. I don't get any disconnect-errors. They were also fast to support the Retina display.

However, I don't like the fact that the app has been quite expensive (its cheaper now) and they won't even make a universal app. You have to pay again to get an iPad version. For inexpensive apps I think that's understandable, but well...

Umm, that one was made in 2010, so it definitely has the new bootrom

When you close beejive (on iOS 4), will your status remain online? If it changes to "away," then I don't think I should spend $10 on that app because most of my friends won't bother sending me a message if they see me as "offline."
