I think the confusion comes from your use of "recently used" to mean "recently used, but closed." I was using "recently used" to mean "recently used."

The way I see it, it's quicker to flick between apps with less taps if you see 4 on a page vs 3.

This is what I mean. I like having 4 options of switching between my recent apps

I'm just curious: have you reached this conclusion by comparing screen shots, or have you actually tried the app switcher in iOS 7?

I have devices running both iOS software 6 and beta 7 and I can say multitasking is far better on ios7. Far quicker too

That is my opinion as well. Just today I learned that you can close up to three apps at a time by flicking up with three fingers at the same time. That's pretty cool.
