Apple needs to release an Android app for AirTags tracking so people with Android phones can detect if they're being stalked.

I'm seeing a lot of videos on TikTok of people finding AirTags on their car.
They already did. but you have to open it and run the search manually.

I continue to be confused about how AirTags enable anything that couldn't be accomplished by a thief driving down a residential street at night.
They don't have to be worried about being spotted if they are tailing a car that they're scouting, or driving by at various hours to make sure it's still there.

It's a convenient stealth tracker if the user isn't alerted to it if they have a new enough smartphone with updated enough software to detect it.

It is far more efficient, and draws no attention, to patrol mall parking lots for target cars, than it is to cruise neighborhood streets looking for a target.

I'm familiar with the case. I just think it's nuts to assume that this guy is lying. What about all of the other reports of the same thing happening? They must all be liars too. Everything's fake! There's NO WAY that someone is using an Apple product for evil, right?

No one is saying anyone is lying. But he can’t know why the tracker was put on his car. He’s guessing.

Then there’s this:

I don’t have any neighbors with muscle cars, but I do know a few who drive a general disturbance.

bud the only person or entity on earth that needs to do *anything* is you. and *you* need to *read* before you go straight to the comment field.

you also might want to consider that a decent amount of those tiktok videos are possibly, idk, staged? like many other acted out videos on tiktok, youtube, facebook....everywhere else on the internet.

The only problem I have with AirTags is that they can only be tied to a person, not a family. This means that when my husband takes the dogs for a walk, he gets a notification that he is being followed by an unknown AirTag. Annoying for items we share.

Did thieves ever use Tile trackers for this purpose? They've been around for years.

Or were they simply not popular enough to be useful for this?

?
I bet they have but the target never knew it because the Tiles didn’t have the anti-stalking feature. I have no proof or evidence, but the thought is logical.

Opportunity. A potential thief can spot a target in a public place like a parking lot and track the target until it’s in a more opportune location for the theft.

Apple needs to give iPhone owners the ability to disallow their phones to pass other people's AirTag data back to apple for tracking. Notifications are not enough. I do not want my phone being used to give location data to another person's airTag.

why?

This article details it, in case you didn't read it. However, people can use airTags not just for tracking vehicles but they could use them to track people. Thinks ex-girlfriends/wifes/spouses/partners or children. The notifications are not sufficient, if you live in a highly populated area you will grow tired and accepting of the notifications. AirTags are an invasion of privacy and I as the iPhone owner should be able to disallow my device that I paid big money for to not be used against me, in any way.

So if I am being tracked, will this message pop up on my phone automatically or is there a setting I need to have turned on?
