No, the little file is a port from the PSJailbreak code (why is crazy!) called PSGroove, geohotz had nothing to do w/ them. You can basically run it w/ any usb micro controller device... Here is a demo of an iPhone putting commands for the PS3....

He might not be even using 4.1... You can get GameCenter through various repos on Cydia - I'm sure MuscleNerd can extract GameCenter from the 4.1 ipsw and install it on his own 4.0 device.

Wow this is the first I am hearing of a PS3 jailbreak and to find out soon you can do it with a jailbroken iPhone is freaking amazing.

Its funny I turned on my PS3 to watch Lost today and it asked me to update and usually I do it right away but this time I didn't for some reason. Come to find out if I did I never would have been able to jailbreak it. Can't wait to find out how to jailbreak it with an iPhone.

Could this be a indication that 4.1 is already JB'd and there will be a JB for us once it officially comes out? Guess we will wait and see.

It's only been a few days since full release, so it's still pretty new. That said, you can't currently do it with an iPhone. MuscleNerd seems to be messing with it, but success has not been claimed and no code is released. I've also seen some claims that even if it does arrive, you'll still need some additional hardware. There are a variety of Android devices and even a TI-84 calculator that can do it software-only, though.

If you're interested, don't update your PS3 to the 3.42 firmware they just pushed out yesterday. They already closed the hole.
