I'm shocked... 57 isn't that old. His music is part of the soundtrack of most of my life from Purple Rain, to the Batman album (which I rather liked... not many say that though) and his more recent stuff like Musicology. Funk in peace Prince.

R.I.P.

Prince was my (music-)hero in the 80's.
The albums Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999, Purple Rain, Around the World in a Day, Sign O' the Times, coloured my teenage world...
I went to all the concerts he gave in the Netherlands in the eighties. I had posters of him in my bedroom.... (and Vanity 6 ..lol)

I still seek bootlegs, rare-versions, etc. of his music, and finding them gives me still so much pleasure.
So lovely to be able to listen to "true" Computer Blue (the 14 minutes version). 30 years ago you had to be a able to "copy a tape", now you just have to know how to use Google.

IMHO one of the best music artists ever:
• He wrote and produced all his songs, and many more for others.
• He could play any instrument, too.
• LIVE, he was absolutely fantastic.

Many "strolls through memory lane" coming up...

Again, R.I.P. Prince, you will be missed.

What. A. Year. This is unbelieveable for premature deaths. I never thought he'd be next.

The artist formerly known as Prince.

2016 sucks. RIP Prince.

"This is what it sounds like when doves cry."

Eric Clapton was once asked how it felt to be the greatest living guitarist. He replied, I don't know, ask Prince.

Amazing performance by Prince.

Wow, Prince playing great lead guitar on George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". This brought tears to my eyes. Prince was beyond talented. I'll miss him tremendously. :(

The guy was a great guitarist. A lot of people don't realize how talented he was with instruments.
Did his own drums,piano,guitar etc...

Talent this amazing is truly once in a lifetime. I am so honored and grateful to have been brought up on the music of these three legends. And they, along with Tupac, are directly responsible for my love of music today. I've been playing the clarinet since I was 12. I remember I was told by one of my old directors that my sound was one of the best he's ever heard.

I remember I told him that Whitney was favorite singer. And the way she sang, was the way I played. I can also play by ear as well. Meaning I can hear a song by say classic Mariah Carey and not only play what she's singing, but also play an accompaniment to what she's singing.

I'm decent on the piano and saxophone and still want to learn the trumpet. Call me a nerd, I don't care. I love music. I just do. It's gotten me through so many dark times in my life. And for that, I am forever grateful to this holy musical trinity. God bless them.

I am not an avid Prince fan but very much admired his talent, drive and all the wonderful music he shared with us. Take away all the facade, ruffles and news stories and we are left with the death of one of the most talented musicians whose merits stand on their own.

Prince - RIP, we will miss your genius.
