Is there a way to see your play history in Apple Music in iOS 10? I haven't found it yet if so. If not, I hope it comes back in the GM.

    Thanks!

Under For You there is a Last Played section but it only show the last Playlists and not individual tracks. Doubt it will be added in the GM since there is usually very little changes made in the last beta other than bugs.

As a next-best improvisation, have you got a "Recently Played" Smart Playlist?

iTunes makes one by default but if you haven't got it you can make a new one via File > New > Smart Playlist and using these settings.

It's certainly not as good as a true music history because the play metadata doesn't appear to sync instantly, but hopefully it is better than nothing?

Worthless for iOS since will only tag the first track played in a 24 hour period in iOS with Last Played metadata.

Hmm, I just played some tracks on my iPhone and a few mins later they all appeared at the top of my Recently Played playlist.

Are you using :apple:Music (or Match)?

Not sure what you are seeing but go into iTunes and add the Last Played field so you can see it. Then go on your iPhone and play a couple of tracks and then go back into iTunes and you will see that only the first track (if that) you played will be updated.

Instructions on how to setup: http://forums.macrumors.com/threads...inute-apple-music-test.1905497/#post-21669015.

This is an old bug that has been around since Match was first released and migrated to :apple:Music. Here are a few older threads about it.

For me on iOS 10, songs are added to the top of Recently Played as soon as they have finished playing. That's what I'm seeing. And that's what @maugustine wanted.

For the record, re iTunes, they are also added to iTunes as well. However I can't get the playlist to go in the correct order. But my recently played songs are definitely there. No issues for me.

Actually you are correct about the iOS (*but not iTunes) and it is very curious. I just made a Smart Playlist and played 4 tracks on my iPhone. The tracks are there in my iPhone Smart Playlist (so you are correct). However in the same iTunes Smart Playlist only the first track I played is in it. So in effect the 2 Playlist are out of sync with each other. Here is 3 pics.

EDIT: Going to keep Playlist and monitor its progress through the week. Also just checked and 30 minutes later and the 3 tracks are still not present in the iTunes Playlist.

    • Pic 1) is the Playlist I played the 4 tracks from (used iPhone) and only the first played updated the metadata
    • Pic 2) the iTunes Smart Playlist after playing 4 tracks and only the first track I played with updated metadata is present
    • Pic 3) The same Smart Playlist in iOS that has all 4 tracks correctly

    * You may have played the tracks in the last 2 weeks putting them in the iTunes Smart Playlist. Change the Smart Playlist to 1 day and see if they are still there or play a track you know you have not played in the last 2 weeks and will not be in the iTunes Smart Playlist.

Hmmm, you're absolutely right, only one updated in iTunes. Very strange how it clearly isn't "true" sync for Smart Playlists - each device must compute based on the playlist's conditions.

FIRST: Thanks for 'forcing' me to try your tip. I like having history. I would have not tried it knowing how it is (not) working. Just to add to the weirdness here is my iPad and it also only has the first track Played. So it is in sync with iTunes but not my iPhone. I listen to music everyday at the gym and will report back on what I find.

EDIT: About to rename my Smart Playlist from Playlist to History.o_O Was just in a hurry to test.:D

So it looks like we were both right and both wrong.:eek:

    More obsession and can't stop::confused:

Just to add to the mystery. Played a track in iTunes and it posted to the iTunes Smart Playlist but not my iPhone or iPad. So now all 3 Smart Playlists are out of sync.

Confusing but here is a morning report and before I use my iPhone.

Played music in iTunes last night and the following 'mess' for my 3 Playlists continues.

    • iTunes: Updated all iTunes played tracks but still the same for only syncing one track of the 4 played last night on iPhone
    • iPhone: Now has synced all the tracks played on iTunes (so it is technically correct)
    • iPad: Same as iTunes so is back in (incomplete) sync with iTunes

Listen to about 30 tracks on my iPhone and they are all in the Playlist on my iPhone. On my iPad and iTunes I only get the very fist track played this morning.

From what I remember of iOS 9, you could scroll backward in your now playing window and see all of your history. I was really hoping they were going to bring that back as it was the most straightforward way of viewing what I had listened to recently.

Yes, that is the way it was but not happening in iOS 10 since the changes to the mini player now. Also there is very little chance of it being added back in any way (other than the way it is in For You ) since we are on the last beta. Maybe a chance for it in 10.1.

Just got back from the gym and listen to about 20 tracks. Same as yesterday with only the first track syncing to the iTunes and iPad Playlets while all shown on my iPhone.
