Guys and Gals, am I alone with this issue??
This has been happening for a week or so, since the last IOS Update.
When I make a call and I stop the call, music plays from my music app, but the app is turned off.
How can I make this stop?
Thanks

As I understand it that is normal behavior. Once you hang up a call, if you had music playing either front and center or in the background, resumes just like that.

Well , that is what's funny, the Music app is OFF and NOT running at all!! Background and Foreground or anything at all!!
It just starts playing random music when I hang up "Some Calls"

How can your music be "OFF" ? Unless you have restricted access to it, the built-in music app is always there, with or without files in it, and not something that works like a toggle on/off switch

OK, the APP is NOT running!!

The issue its still there.

I hang up and music plays, some random song starts playing.

Do you have anything plugged in the headphone jack? Or use bluetooth? Any error logs in diagnostics and usage? I would try a backup and restore from iTunes.

Bluetooth only.

I need to take it to the store, I'm Joint Venture and they get me appointments fairly fast.

I'm resurrecting this thread to see if others are having similar issues. I have a similar problem intermittently, and I think I found what's causing the issue, at least in my scenario, using the Apple EarPods. I'm sure it's really a "feature", but I consider it a "bug".

I'm using an iPhone 6 running iOS 9.3.2, using Apple EarPods for phone calls and FaceTime audio calls.
  1. Open Music app
  2. Clear Up Next list.
  3. Make sure no music is playing.
  4. Double-tap home button and swipe Music app up to close app.
  5. Music is not playing or paused, and does not appear on lock screen or on recently used app list.
  6. Turn iPhone off, then back on.
  7. Verify Music app is not playing.
  8. Double-tap home button to see Music app does not appear on recently used app list.
  9. Pinch center button on Apple EarPods.
  10. Music starts playing random song.
  11. Double-tap home button to see Music app is still not on the recently used app list, even though it is currently playing.
  12. Open Music app.
  13. Tap on song currently playing.
  14. Tap icon on right to view Up Next list
  15. Up Next list is now populated with random songs, even though it was previously cleared.
I had been pinching the button on the EarPods to end calls, and apparently pinched twice or pinched after call had ended on occasion, which was starting music. This is not a cool "feature", IMHO.

I made an account just for this problem...I cannot find the solution anywhere...I even deleted all the music off my iphone and then it starts playing Spotify when i wasn't even listening to that to begin with.. I was listening to the radio, took a call through bluetooth(car) left the car (key event) then once i hang up my phone, music plays..

I'm having the same issue and can't find answers anywhere. I'm having this issue on my mac though... I'm on bluetooth that's connected to both iphone and mac, end the call, mac starts playing itunes. ugh!

I setup an account just to confirm that this is also happening to me.

I was on a call with my Apple Airpods (wireless).. When the call ended I took off my Airpods and hung up. As soon as I hung up Apple Music started playing. I double tapped the home button to jump to Apple Music and close the app, only it wasn't open. The only way i could turn off the music was resetting my iPhone.

I tested this out again and the pattern is the same. I use an iPhone 8 Plus. Note that the Airpods must come out of the ears prior to hanging up the call. If you hang up while the Airpods are still in your ears, nothing happens.

Well, this is still happening, Called Apple and I had the standard response of

A) I've never heard that before
B) Restart your Device
C) Reset your Device
D) Update to the newest OS
E) All of the above

B and C are the same thing. What's missing from your list is "Restore your iPhone with iTunes". Have you done that?

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204184

Follow the instructions for restoring from an iTunes backup, not iCloud. If you encrypt your iTunes backup before restoring the iPhone, be sure to write down the backup's password.

I've done it every way you can imagine, still does it every so often

I have the same issue with my Jabra Bluetooth headset ever since the iOS 12 update. I even switched from my iPhoneXs back to my iPhoneX, both with full reset and restored from iTunes. Same issue.

As you can see from my Original Post, I've had this issue since July 2015, still happens on and off, without a REAL solution from apple and of course, I've been tolled that they have NEVER heard of this issue before and I'm the first person that this has ever happened to....

This is happening to me as well. And it was since I got the airpods.

This has been happening to me with phone calls since I upgraded to 12.3.1.

1. Stop Audiobook app (connected to BT speaker),
2. use Favorite to dial someone,
3. Music app starts playing in background while iPhone.

I opened the music app (which had not been running before making the phone call), and manually turned off (ie paused/stopped) the music and closed the app.

Highly annoying.

BTW, this was a clean install from iOS 11 to 12.

iPhone SE.

[doublepost=1566156719][/doublepost]Many years laaaaater - 2019 still happens.

yep still have that issue for a couple years now and it happen with both ipad (if i answer a call from my ipad, after hanging up) and iphone. IOS version is 12.4 but its happening since a couple of versions before..
Tim Apple, please fix that issue!! o_O

You need to fully back up you phone, wipe it out and do a factory reset
and then restore, if that happens again, go to Apple Store.

I can guess what's happening.

You're on a call and when you go to hang up, the person at the other end beats you to it (maybe by fractions of a second).

Well, then the iPhone goes into the mode where you are now pressing the pause/play button.

Been trying to get Apple to delay that happening till at least 2 seconds after the call ends
