Music?

I have no music on my iPad. I only have one playlist on my iPhone 4, but everything is on my iPod Classic even though I hardly listen to anything other than three or four playlists.

Pandora and ooTunes are perfect for me. Still hard to fathom someone having thousands of songs.

I remember when I had a big tape collection, back when they used tapes. It was huge. They got stolen. I was too depressed to try to get the collection back where it was. Probably why I don't have a big collection now and use apps instead. All about streaming these days 😉.

It feels like I'm in the middle ground here; I keep a relatively small selection of my music on my iPad (and iPod Touch). At the moment that amounts to less than 1000 tracks. I've also got a iPod Classic which stores everything I have, scarily that currently amounts to over 5000 tracks.

I don't have any music in my iPad's iTunes library. Nor do I have any on my iPhone, or any on my iPad nano (which I use exclusively for the Nike+ functionality).

Now, given those facts, you might think I don't really care for music. Actually, I'm an avid fan of several genres of music, and have more than 300 gigabytes of FLAC, AAC and MP3 files on my Drobo drive.

Guess I need to take my music out with me more often, though! 😀

I added half of my iPod's music on my iPad, which is about 1/9 of my music

I added some podcasts and a couple of playlists to my iPad.

On my iPhone have a few playlists and also my highest rated and most played.

I've never had the inclination or desire to load my entire music library.

I've had a succession of iPods, iPhones and the iPad and have never stored more than a few dozen albums at a time on any device. I find it maddening to search through a lot of stuff that I thought would be cool to listen to at the time but later found to be uninteresting. I change up my content a lot.

I really don't understand people who feel they must have every song they have with them at all times on all their portable devices. Do they have a deep down fear of getting stranded on a desert island for the rest of their lives with it and really need hundreds or thousands of hours of songs to pass the time??? 😀 Not everyone is a DJ...

Me, I keep it to a gb or two and rotate in/out various playlists. Also use ooTunes and Pandora at times...

If you want reasons;
-sync time. Rotating enough songs to last a couple of days takes a fair while to transfer. 😱
-sync opportunities. I can't justify the time to turn on the computer etc. just to sync my iPod. Granted, I currently use a windows box, which is far more hassle than my old macs were... 🙁
-sync opportunities (2). Now I have an iPad, I have even less use for the main computer. Apple really needs to make an iTunes enabled time machine server thingy. 😎
