I would recommend the Apple Remote app for iPhone. Pretty useful to use with your Mac.

If it's still free: The Moron Test

You will get a good laugh at it while trying to decipher child class questions. Also, it's a good way to make your friends and family break their heads tryingo solve it.

I'm surprised no one mentioned PS Mobile or SnapTell. Also tunewiki.

Dragon Search and Dragon Dictation. Although I heard the Bing Search app is great, I need to check it out and see if I like it better than Dragon Search.

Most of my recommendations have already been mentioned. Otherwise, Time Mobile and Stanza (you can get free content for the app). Also Instapaper.

Of the apps mentioned, Dragon Dictation is my favorite. It's definitely worth installing and playing with.

fstream—Will record your internet radio (thousands of stations) in very good quality! Via a web interface you can transmit records to Mac/PC.

    Streaming Media
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streaming_media

I am sure your favorite radio stations are streaming, find out the URL at their website, insert to fstream and voilà: Your local news all over the world where you have WiFi or 3G! Better than ANY FM hardware receiver!

This is a pretty solid list actually but paper toss? come on.

Shazam deserves a spot in that list imo.

Paper Toss is probably my favorite game on the platform for just wasting time. Either that or Skee-Ball.

I will back that as I believe Shazam is a definite must have.

I cannot count the times where I've heard a song that I did not know and Shazam pulled through for me. A lot of the bands I listen to now were because of Shazam =)
