I was about to order the mac pro hoping for new upgrades, quad core ...etc or a 12" macbook pro. And guess what ? All we were given are some 8GIG Cell phone that supposed to play widescreen video and a tv streamer.

no leopard, no quad cores, no nothing. Guess what apple, you just lost a sale today

now, where is the page for the 15" MBP :p

... how did they lose a sale if you're buying a 15" MBP?

Anyway, I will agree that this whole MWSF thing was kinda disappointing this year, but I don't need a cell phone, nor do I need iTV, since I have an XBox with the XBox Media Center running on it.

As others have said, just hold on for the next few months, Leopard is scheduled for release by spring (paraphrasing here) and if you really want the Octapus Mac Pro, just buy the base one and drop in 2 quad-core Xeon chips. You'll still probably get some good cash for the originals on eBay.

I want an iPod that is just like the iPhone, but with no cell phone built in. I still want Google Maps though, which would require a subscription to some sort of service I'm sure. I LOVE the idea of cover flow on an iPod, and the interface is just perfect. Well, come to think of it, I'd like the email option on an iPod as well... maybe the iPhone is for me.

... oh wait its like $600US and not available in Canada for a while... nevermind, I can wait.

What are you guys talking about? We did get something new! We get a new airport router!

... yeah Im pretty dissappointed. I really dont care about the airport, AppleTV, and somewhat but not really care about the iPhone... what a bummer, rolled my ass out of bed for nothing this morning :(

so when is the next big mac event?

haha, oh yeah, forgot about the airport - looks pretty cool - though it seems like they're taking the mac mini form factor and slicing it down (1/2 way for the apple TV and 1/4 way for the new airport base station).

you know, while I was getting the feeds for the keynote, i thought the iphone was very very cool. the only problem was, afterwards, I realized I probably wouldn't get it cause it's with cingular and it's pretty pricey - good value for all that you're getting, but expensive nonetheless. like a bunch of other people, i'm just waiting for them to release a large capacity ipod with that touch screen functionality. THAT is something i'd get.

Whiner. Oh, but you're still going to buy something? Christ, I can't stand you complainers.

Then maybe Apple should drop the name "pro" from their line up. The pro line is supposed to be used by people that make their living with a certain technology and not some teenagers slinging something 'cool' in their pocket.

You can already get Quad Core workstation from other computer manufacturers like DELL, HP ...etc. Not to mention the PREMIUM price that apple charges on every single product they sell. Thank god FCS and the MAC OS are light years better than WINDOZE and PREMIERE PRO.

This is why APPLE is never going to sell their single stand alone MAC OS, because without it they would never be able to sell their overpriced "COOL" hardware. You can get FAR FAR FAR better graphic card than the overpriced card that APPLE charges you on the Mac Pro. Just look around, how many Mac users are buying and using DELL LCD monitors vs the APPLE ones.

Oh shut up. Go play with Vista.

Sucks??? Come on. iPhone kicks some arse! Only bad thing is June release date, but hopefully it will get the ok before then.

iTV looks good, but it might have a few draw backs.

I'm sure iLife and iWork are coming soon...last year they had an event near the end of Feb...hopefully we'll see iWork+iLife by then.

(plus new Airport to support N)

yeah i am crying. I am sincere getting ready to spend over $3000 for a quad mac pro. I have been doing Apple motion and Apple FCP on a MacBook. Regardless, I managed to get few tv commercials out already last week (I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO PREMIERE Pro).

We have 2 shorts getting ready to shoot this early spring, for a local film festival and I need to get a proper machine.

Is that an attempt at legitimizing your whining? Sorry, it doesn't impress anyone.

The fact is that 'pros', as in film and video in particular, don't give a s**t about the newest piece of hardware. Why? Because they're too busy working. Post houses don't give a crap either. They only update hardware when budget allows and in the film/video business, that usually happens when a big change occurs. Software is updated regularly however.

The MacPro and even MBP is fine for what you need. Even better, Apple is offering refurbs on some great machines. What I find funny is that you are cutting 'commercials' on a macbook. I have yet to see that configuration in a post house. I think you just want a new toy, like most of the whiners in here.

and that there is ...

The Whole Truth and nothing but the truth

Wow. When I first posted in this thread, I didn't even realize how bad this problem was. What a bunch of wankers the better half of you are. I'm sorry but it's true. If you are so dissatisfied, stop buying anything from Apple. Quit using the OS, stop buying the "overpriced" hardware, and go get $400 Windows Vista Ultimate and then post from your new Windows machine and let us know how awesome it is to be like everyone else. Don't forget to scan for viruses.

Apple owes you nothing and that's all you should expect, it's certainly all you deserve. I feel bad for those that can never just be happy with what they have. I can only imagine how your relationships must suffer from this, that is, if you ever actually get out in the real world and meet anyone to begin with.

im not too happy with macworld this year...

Tv is pretty much a joke. I mean come on, like i really buy soooo many movies from itunes. No Tivo funtionality??? ehhh...sorry, not givin up $300 for that.

iPhone...I admit, I'd buy one of these. If it wasnt for cingular sucking so much. Thats one of the worst cell phone services. Hopefully, they'll migrate to Verizon wireless, or at least release an unlocked version

MAYBE because not every1 owns or work at big production houses. We own our own small independent media company doing local commercials and weddings. We used to do our editing on windows and premiere pro. Until we got a hand on a Macbook and FCP.

So impressed that we decided to get a new mac pro and hopefully FCS 6 for our little home studio. We also prefer small 12" macbook pro so we can use it on the field to upload footage from our P2 cards and the macbook doesnt have an express nor pcmcia slot.

anyway, i dont even know why i am explaining all these to a fan boy.

If I was to ever buy an I-Pod, I'd buy one that had the full screen, and internet browser abilities of the iPhone, but I hate cell phones. I have no use for the phone whatsoever, but I'd have to sign up for the phone service to get the internet so the iPhone is useless to me. I'd rather sign up for a direct ISP service from another company that screw around with some ****** Cell Phone plan. No matter how cool the iPhone is, no matter how sexy or nifty a gadget it is, it can't get away from the sheer fact that all cell phones suck, and they're chomping at the last reigns of freedom and friendlyness that we used to enjoy in this country.

I think more people would have rather seen a simple full screen video iPod than the full on headache that they actually delivered. It would have been a much more popular step than the one they've taken. A phone was inevitable, I just think now wasn't the time. They took advantage of MacWorld's exposure, which is brilliant as far as a business decision goes, but really shows the Mac user base what they think of them, and I think in the long run this MacWorld is going to do a lot to weaken support for "Apple, Inc." in the future.

I don't even own a Mac yet, as I was looking forward to this keynote to drop the dough. I've done a lot of research into the history of the company and into past keynotes, past apple models, etc... A lot of research and was absolutely psyched to buy a Mac. After this keynote, not so much. I still plan to get a Mac, but I'm not as confident in my decision as I was before.

It's like buying a house and then afterwards, finding out that the contractor just got sued for unsafe construction by someone else. You're still going to live there, but you may not always sleep soundly.

I have a nagging feeling that leopard will not be released in the spring and it is going to get delayed. Reason for this belief is historically apple would do a preview with in 6 months of the release and it always at either the event late summer/early fall or at this one in January and lets face it they did not do that so that more than likely means a delay and apple will be eating crow on it as well due to the amount of flack they gave M$ and bragging about them not being behind and priding themselves on that.

All this whining is pathetic

Steve just announced 2 revolutionary items today. So there was no quad core. The quad core chip was just announced at CES last week, darn Apple for not being a little quicker. If Apple really cared, they would have released the quad core Mac at least 2 days before the chip was announced by Intel at CES. ;)

Panther: well I would have liked to see this as well, but I guess we will have to wait until it is in the stores. I mean, The Steve has never scheduled a media event outside of MWSF or the WWDC. Oh wait, I might be wrong about that.:p

Bottom line. BE PATIENT. Realize the significance of the 2 items that were introduced. Apple had made it to the living room with Apple TV and not just that, but it is HD 720P which can be viewed on a 1080i display. That is huge. The iPhone, The Steve just eliminated having to carry both a cell phone and an iPod(I do this exact thing and it is a pain) by merging them together. Plus all the other stuff the phone does.

Just in case you do not know, AAPL finished up $7.10 today.

If something bad happens with or in a company, the stock price DOES NOT go up.

I'm not crazy. You meant Leopard, right?

This whining is just ridiculous.

I, too, was disappointed that they didn't preview Leopard, but we'll see it in time. The iPhone is so feature-packed that it deserved to be talked about over an hour, IMO. Sure, I don't need a cell phone, but I still think it's an awesome product for people who DO need one. It's definitely the coolest phone I've seen and I haven't even watched all of the keynote yet.

We'll find out about Leopard in time. Until then, let's enjoy the great OS that we already have - Tiger. (which is way ahead of Vista and it was released almost 2 years ago!)

As far as new Macs, we have GREAT Macs now. As someone else said, the Mac Pro is still practically brand new. It's only been out a few months and is plenty powerful.

I say everybody should just calm down and be patient.

 Life is so unfair. Why do we even put up with it?

I knew this day would come. Everyone was just a little to excited over the whole thing.
Now I have one advice. Why don't everybody take their brilliant little minds and start making this place fun again.:D

Seriously:mad:

Why can't you whiners stop being selfish for once. Me, me, me, me, if Apple doesn't release what I want them to, they're POS's. Bah. First, Alpninism you should of saved your money some more before buying a Macbook. You should of known it wasn't up to par to do what you needed to do. You set this up yourself. Buying a machine that isn't capable of running the things you need while demanding Apple that they release a Dual Quad core Mac Pro( which the current ones are plenty powerful for the things you do). Apple didn't, so you complain on things they never promised. If you learn something about Apple, they sometimes don't put the latest stuff in their products as soon as they come out. Frankly, how you're bashing us I don't think you have a Mac at all. How are we fanboys for knocking some sense into people like you that convince themselves that Apple promised something while they never really did.

We were promised

We weren't promised anything. I'll refrain from calling you whiners, because I'm also a little disappointed, but I can at least realize that rumor does not equal fact. Arn made that very clear (even though I thought it was silly he had to), as he always does. Quads will come out soon, as will new minis. New iMacs and MBs when Santa Rosa is available. Updates to iLife and probably iWork when Leopard is nearing release. Sometime in Spring.

That being said, I want my mini MacBook Pro. Or the Tablet. Or whatever. And a mini Tower. But I don't expect either anytime soon.

And did anyone notice the lack of an iWork and iLife '08??
Do you expect Apple to release iWork and iLife 2008 in January 2007? This was probably just a typo, but it should be mentioned as a hole in your whining. If it was a typo and you meant to cry about the 2k7 version not being released in the first month of the year, I recommend you invest 100% of your IRA/401k in AAPL, since that's where your heart is.

The iphone looks intriguing and I am tempted to be an early adopter...

a lot of time can be wasted on leopard but the iphone needed the most coverage because it's just announced and it's entering a new market. although I'm dissipointed in lack of new software, it dosen't have to be in the macworld expo if it's not something as huge or revolutionary as the iphone, and same goes for macs.

"now that we have talked about the appleTV, iwork and ilife that we won't release until next month or so,leopard's new features that microsoft will immediatly watch and copy, statistics, and macs that really dosen't need time to talk about, there's the iphone but i'l keep it short because time is running out." > that will generate so little support and enthusiasm for the iphone that nobody's going to buy it.

the main dissipointment is the range of the products are too high for an ordinary student like me. apple SHOULD strip some features and give me a phone with a decent camera, and has itunes and widescreen video capability.

I just watched the keynote and the iPhone was amazing! Overall I didn't like the fact that only two products were covered in two hours but at least Steve did say that 'new Mac stuff' are coming soon in the coming months, minutes into the keynote.

I don't care much for the AppleTV thing but I think the iPhone is mighty cool and can't wait to get my hands on it.

OTOH, the thought of
Mac (no Mac announcements)
World (iTunes movies and iPhone both US only for 07)
kinda makes me grin.
