I expect Apple to hit us with all sorts of updates every few weeks to a month.

I think they are holding off on ilife pending Leopard because of multimedia features like frontrow etc and maybe because they have new hardware to build on this multimedia - like the mac mini revamp.

First, Alpninism you should of saved your money some more before buying a Macbook. You should of known it wasn't up to par to do what you needed to do. You set this up yourself. Buying a machine that isn't capable of running the things you need while demanding Apple that they release a Dual Quad core Mac Pro( which the current ones are plenty powerful for the things you do).

I did not purchased the mac book, i used my gf's macbook C2D and was running FCS on it. I was so impressed that my workflow was at least 60% faster than when i was using Premiere Pro 2.0 on a windoze machine.

Therefore, i was hoping to plunge in >$3000 on a new Quad Mac Pro. I know Dual Core Mac Pro is enough but I do not want to spend that much money and then be obsolete (resale value). NOt to mention FCS 6.0 is on the verge of replacing FCS 5. With my current estimation, NAB would be a good time to release the Quads with FCS 6.0 utilized for Quad Cores.

With the current situation, the MBP is a much safer buy than the Mac Pro.

I'm just afraid that when I order my iMac at the end of this month, that the week after that, or even two weeks after that, iLife and Leopard will come out. I just really hope that Apple will show mercy if that happens and I might get a copy for free since I can't really base my purchase in a timeframe I don't know exists. :)
God it just tears me up waiting till I get enough money to buy my first iMac ever. I really do figure that Apple will release its iLife/Work and Leopard about a week after Vista comes out. It is at this time that the new software bumps and Leopard "features" will really blow vista out of the water, as MW already blew the zune and any other cellphone out there out of the water.

MAYBE because not every1 owns or work at big production houses. We own our own small independent media company doing local commercials and weddings. We used to do our editing on windows and premiere pro. Until we got a hand on a Macbook and FCP.

So impressed that we decided to get a new mac pro and hopefully FCS 6 for our little home studio. We also prefer small 12" macbook pro so we can use it on the field to upload footage from our P2 cards and the macbook doesnt have an express nor pcmcia slot.

anyway, i dont even know why i am explaining all these to a fan boy.

Well there you have it. Local commercials and weddings. You hardly need the firepower of the newest mac pro. just buy what's available now or a refurb, it's the wiser business decision.

and yes, you do sound confused because YOU are the one that comes off like a fanboy with your whining.

I work with the hvx200 which capture with DVCPRO HD at 60i, 30p and also 24p. It is very bandwidth and CPU hungry. Not to mention FCS 6 is due anytime and we would expect it to support the quad cores cpu. And we as adult do not run back to mama and beg for money like most of the fan boys here do just to flaunt the latest apple gadget. We actually use our tools to try to make a living. What do you use your mac for ?

And BTW, as much as we love indie narrative filmmaking (which we have 2 screenplays completed alread), those will not bring in food to the table :( Local events and local informecial and commercial do.

I'm extremely disappointed as well. I was expecting a device that would clean my dishes, vacuum my floor, shovel the snow, and mow the lawn. They didn't even come close!!
