Does anyone know the name of that plastic/silicone keyboard cover for PBs that's form-fitted? You can get it in a clear blue and light blue, but I just can't find the thing right now. I'm about to order some accessories for my PB. Thanks.

Guess what - its still in China.

Ahh - the joy of waiting for a new toy

You're not the only one. My PB has taken 10 days to get from China to Amsterdam:

09 Nov 2005 16:10 Arnhem Hub Consignment Received At Transit Point
09 Nov 2005 16:01 Arnhem Hub Consignment Passed Through Transit Point
01 Nov 2005 21:27 Shanghai Shipped From Originating Depot
01 Nov 2005 09:49 Shanghai Consignment Received At Transit Point

I spoke to TNT on Tuesday and they said it'd been delayed (didn't say why) in China and that it'd be delivered on Thursday (today), doesn't look like it'll be delivered till tomorrow now though..

My iPod got here quicker and that was with 3 different couriers. :(

All I can say guys (& girls?) that the wait is so worth it. I could never wait, but trust me, once you get your Powerbook, or whatever you order, you'll be so happy :)

Cheers,

When did u order it? Is it stock or BTO
Let me know when yours arrives.
TNT said the same, mine has been delayed, because 'they are probably waiting to fill a container'

Just how many times a day can u check the online tracker

It was BTO, I got the 100 GB 7200 rpm hdd.

Maybe a delay due to the 7200 drive?

I ordered a default config Tuesday night, it will arrive at my doorstep tomorrow. And that is with the free ground shipping as well.

Ordered Nov 8
Shipped Nov 9
Arriving Nov 11

First of all, lemme say congrats Steve. I want that same exact computer. I really hope that I can get a holiday job that'll get me closer to it. I'm really tempted to go BTO @ Apple.com for stuff like the faster, higher capacity HD, but I think the stock 80GB should suit me well for the time being. If I had had the money prior to this PB line update I'd have gotten basically the same thing but I'd have had to BTO just about everything, including the uber-cool 128 MB graphics card. Like others here, I think I'll just get the stock from my LOCAL Apple store. :p They know me there by name. I've been there since Day 1. ^_^ It's been open for a year as of October 30th.

ANd now on to the quote commentary...

You lucky devil.

I wish I had $3k to get a new laptop :(

Enjoy your new toy. And BTW, what is all this nonsense about preparing your machine for its first boot? The thing is ready out of the box, just plug it in and use it chief.

I hear you on that one... On all three of our laptops, 2 iBook G3s and an original 2001 model TiBook 400 Mhz it's said and recommended that you drain the battery down to "safe mode" when you initially use it... I never got that... and yeah it's $1999, maybe more like $2000 something with tax and/or shipping.

What's with the ethernet cable? lol You don't have wireless? I'm wireless on my iBook but I use a cable for local LAN VNC and file transfer between it and my PC... Just curious. I agree though. Awesome pics. I was just as excited as others here when I was awaiting Tiger... Be sure to look for a thread of my own once I order or get my own 15" PB...

It doesn't look like it, the delay is in shipping it, not building it.

Look at his details, Brighton UK.. It's like the SanFransisco of the UK, but without the Earthquakes :D

It seems that the US get shipping much quicker than us poor saps in Europe.

Unfortunetly I'm in Ireland, which means it takes even longer as it goes to Amsterdam, then England before getting into Ireland. TNT really suck!!! I wish Apple used DHL or UPS instead.

Strange in todays shipping world how it can cost my $6 to send something directly to the UK or anywhere else, and it takes about the same amount of time, but Apple using multiple shipping providers that all take different amounts of time?

Why not use FedEx or DHL for EVERYTHING, then you get standard rates, and everyone is about the same amount of time, maybe just a day or two more for overseas. Mine is being shipped via FedEx. I've never even heard of TNT, lol.

Believe us; you are truly blessed :D

I don't know why they dont just use FedEx as they operate in Europe/UK/Ireland and are a damn site more reliable than TNT. Oh well

I have wireless (802.11g) but when transferring my music from my other computers (23GB) then I'd prefer the speeds of ethernet :p
Wireless is for the rest of the time :)

I'm trying to get my mom and my sister to move over to Macintosh. My sister knows how to use them a bit so she's good, but my mom has used Windows forever, so she won't change.

So, I woke up today, checked TNT and finally saw:

11 Nov 2005 09:02 Croydon Out For Delivery
11 Nov 2005 08:39 Croydon Import Received
11 Nov 2005 08:29 Croydon Out For Delivery
11 Nov 2005 05:03 Croydon Import Received

Then, about 10 minutes ago, the TNT guy arrived with my parcel.. :) ...supposedly. Now I actually can't believe this myself.. but he has managed to give me the WRONG parcel, it's addressed to someone in a completely different street, in a completely different part of town. So now I have a parcel for someone else and either someone else has my PB... or it's stuck on the back of a TNT van.

I'm kicking myself because he disappeared so quick and I didn't even see the label until after he'd vanished. :(

TNT customer services are being pretty helpful.. I should get a call back from customer services. I just wish they'd train their delivery people better...

That sucks. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it will get resolved quickly.

Not that it helps you any, but I just noticed mine is in Houston! So it should arrive as scheduled this afternoon, I just hope they don't get there before I get home!

jamie85 -> Did u get it resolved.

My Powerbook is gonna spend the weekend in a TNT depot in somewhere in England.

Looks like it will make Scotland on Monday - why can't the move it over the weekend?
