I have an android phone and an ipod touch 32gb, I could not fathom anyone wanting an android phone over an iPhone! the retina display, the lovely camera and the layout (rows etc) just seem to work!

But of course the very best thing about the iPod for me is the wealth of apps in the appstore. The android marketplace is a flea market to apple's department store.

Snip

I have the iPhone 4 and the Andriod-based MyTouch 4 (T-Mobile) and while the iPhone apps and UI are currently superior the MT4G is by no means completely inferior to the iPhone.

The camera on the MT4G is far superior to the iPhone and the 720p HD video is outstanding for such a small portable device.

The Andriod OS is still maturing but is worth a second look for the technology enthusiast tired of emperor Job's insular view of the world. I still prefer many apple products but their desire to focus on the mass market consumer w/o remembering the techies that made them will probably help Andriod find a few more customers.

Cheers,

I think it has come to the point that our phones are the portal computing device. iPad is the computing device to travel with like a laptop. The Tab is more in the league to compete with the iPod touch not the iPad. Both the Tab and Touch are similar in sizes, but the iTouch has more available content to play with. iTouch has access to all content of the iPhone which greater than Android Market plus window phone 7 market plus blackberry market. If you have an android phone and don't like apple stuff, you should wait for a 10 inch tablet.

IDK, perhaps my iPhone 4 camera is defective. Outside in the sun they are both good but indoors in low light situations my iPhone camera flash produces dull pictures. The MT4G shots are bright and clear.

Cheers,

Android phones rock, now as a tablet they have not come along yet, but as a phone they are fantastic. Customizable, the openness apps are just as up to par with apples app store, maybe not just not there yet, but it has everything i need, and or want. Along with not being stuck with 1 provider. You dont like androids stock UI, you can switch it up with the the tap of your finger tips.

I dunno, my phone does certainly look nice and all but my ipod touchscreen is just superior, plus I find the music player is a lot nicer, but this is all just my opinion, I like rows and stuff on the ipod, not a fan of widgets as they seem to just get messy when they are different sizes etc.

Since I have both, I can honestly say Android OS works better on a phone form factor. On the other hand, iOS4.2 totally kicks ass on a tablet. I had a brand new iPhone 4 and it doesn't compare to what the Nexus One can do.

Maybe I've drunk too much kool aid, but I've got no time for widgets. I hated thm on Vista, and quickly turned them off.

honestly I did not think I would like it, and I actually did. I did not have a lot of time with it but I do like the form factor and size.

It is very durable way more so than my ipad which has some dings in the back, which would not be the case with this. I thought the size was very attractive and with an ios system in it I would get one in a heart beat.

Steve says no, consumers say yes, and sooner or later I am betting they will release one, maybe even sooner than we all think. It would not be the first time Steve said he wouldn't do something and then turned around and did.

Anyway, its a nice little device with the exception of its horrid operating system!

I am posting this from my new tab and I actually like it better than the pad. It complements my iPhone nicely. In my opinion the ipad is to big. The browser issues that some of you encounter is the browser itself. I use the dolphin hd browser without issues. I tend to go back and forth. They both have their pros and cons. I guess its why I have both.

Considering having 2 ip4 that have both been exchanged twice, the my wife has to take pictures with her captivate that has the ability to take indoor pictures under fluorescent lights without added a green tinted dot to the picture.
Outside pictures the ip4 wins but not by an overwhelming amount.

I have never read a review that has mentioned the green dot issue but I have seen it mentioned on various forums including apple's own support forum.

I was able to play with a tab today and I have to say the user experience was horrible. Everything was slow and unresponsive, to the point where it became unusable. I eventually became frustrated with it and put it back. Then I looked at the price and was shocked to see it actually cost more than an iPad. I think the screen size is too small for this type of device. True portability lies with mobile phones. It's not like you can stick the tab in your pocket or jacket; you still would have to carry it in a bag. You might as well go for the larger screen size of the IPad and carry that. Plus, the UI on the iPad is just so much smoother that it makes using it pleasure.

Perhaps next iterations of android tablets will be better, but for now the iPad still reigns the tablet market. Competition is always good to have, though.

It's funny, I tried the browser on the Tab and noticed that it uses the checkerboard pattern for websites like the iPad, but I could make it appear just by scrolling down the page that was already loaded. The center of the page would stay visible but about a 1/3 on each side would become a checkerboard pattern.

I then downloaded Dolphin HD because I hear good things and as soon as it installed the Tab froze, half of the screen went black and then it shut off and I couldn't turn it back on. I have no clue what happened.

I find it hard to believe they have sold 600k of these things already.

It's hard to say what that number means. 600K shipped out does not necessarily mean 600K in consumer's hands, many or even most of those could be sitting in inventory channel waiting to actually be re-sold to consumers. It's also the first month of availability for a new product that in one sense has no competitors (other Android based tablets). In three to six months we should know better how they are actually doing.

I was back at our local AT&T store today and played with the Tab again and noticed the screen had some scratches, I mean long serious scratches. Seeing this was locked in at it's display next to the iPads which had no scratches I'd be a bit worried if your a Tab owner. iPads screen is practically bullet proof, apparently the Tab's is not.
