So do you guys think from the above screenshots that my battery life is the norm:confused:

The phone was not used once at all yesterday and only for checking mail and browsing web with about 2 youtube vids.

It has four hours of usage and you're saying you didn't use it once?

Four hours of usage and over 17 hours of standby seems about right to me. The battery is only supposed to get you through a day.

Ive just thought....I'm using beejive with a 24 hour timeout so its pretty much always on.

Do you think this would make a difference to the battery life?

Thanks

Wont make a blind bit of difference. All that means is that the beejive server keeps your account signed in for 24 hours. The only time that will interfere with your battery life is when a message is pushed.

Well, like I was saying up above, I ordered my unit on Monday (29th) and it shipped that night. I had gone to the AT&T store earlier that day and they didn't have any and told me it would be 7-14 days. Yet mine is on a truck right now. Go figure on that one. If you're going to exchange, then start calling now and let them know you heard someone got his phone over night (me). Mine was an upgrade from first gen to 32gb 3gs white. Don't know if they'll hold back stock for exchanges.

It doesn't appear that draining the battery helps, may make things worse if you ask me. Let's recap what we think are possible answers to the problem.

No Wi-Fi
No Bluetooth
No Push Notifications (may be ok to leave on)
No Location Services
No 3G unless downloading or surfing intensive sites
Brightness low

Anything else?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16)

More and more, I'm convinced that it's the 3G connection in general. When spending the day on edge, with push on, BT on, wifi off (or on around a network), and beejive at 24 hr connect, I can get to 10 hours and have 25% left.

I've started turning on 3G for heavy surfing and downloading only. Doesn't seem necessary for IM or email anyway.

I think the same, I think bad radio power management is the cause of all the overheating and battery drain issues

I've been pretty happy with my battery. Below are my stats with WiFi, Location Services & 3G all on but BT off. Auto brightness at 45%.

Used the device for email fetching/sending, web browsing, App store downloads, iPod use, Youtube use, misc apps use, few minutes of calls and about 20 texts per day. No GPS/Maps use though nor gaming as far as i can remember, then again maybe i used it briefly and have forgotten but unlikely. Haven't charged it since sunday.

For the record, your iPhone is supposed to show no to little usage during sleep time. Or at least mine does (no 3G, no Push). Although it seems ipod use will count towards usage, although it is minimal drain.

It doesn't show use when in sleep mode. However, iPod use does count as usage time. As for effect on batt life...i dunno. I do skip and change vol frequently plus my tracks have variable bit rates and EQ settings attached to them. So i dunno how much impact these make.

Final usage...it died a few minutes later

From these results it would seem the OPs batt life is definitely subpar

Here is mine. I went two days w/o charging to see how long it'd take. I did a little surfing, a few YouTube videos, some gaming, some of SiriusXM's app (20 minutes or so), some texting, a few phone calls...nothing really terrible. I think this is decent battery life, I don't know.

3G on (terrible signal at my apartment and also at work - just overnight, I lost 6% b/c the further away from my window I go, the worse my reception is. And at the office, I do believe the insulation is aluminum foil...ugh), Bluetooth off, location on, e-mail set to manual except for MobileMe which is pushing, WiFi was on for one of these two days. I think that's all I can think of:

I've just had my 10% warning - I don't think my battery is doing too bad :)
