A little over a year later, we're into iOS 11 and I have this exact issue... except my 7+ is doing it every 5-60 seconds... i've done a full restore of freshly downloaded OS and restore form backup and it's still doing it. I really don't want to start fresh but I know I have to try that if I am going to get Apple to replace my device.

Thankfully mine is still under warranty. Looks like i'm off to the Apple store next weekend.

I don't know how random this is because my 7+ purchased a year ago almost exactly now has this problem and it started yesterday.
[doublepost=1512224965][/doublepost]Here is the solution you have to turn off all notifications then update to 11.2 here is the link to apple article.

Same here. Bought my 7+ last October, and it’s nonstop this morning with this issue.

Didn't anyone look at TheOhioBloke's post?? As of Dec 2 @ 00:15 local time

Turn off Notifications, upgrade to 11.2, turn Notifications back on.
The issues in this thread, coming from more than a month ago, were/are different than the one that popped up just recently (for which iOS 11.2 was released).

Just registered. Having the exact same issue starting this morning. Hoping for a fix. I'm "glad" that others are having the exact same problem bc its likely a fixable software issue and not hardware related

iPhone 7+ 128gb w/ Verizon

11.1.2

Trying to update to 11.2 (keeps soft crashing)

I started noticing that in the night, my iPhone 7 repeatedly made the "connected to power" noise while it was sitting there, plugged in. Starting after I unplugged it, I'm getting this "soft-reboot" issue as well. I find it odd that I'm the fifth person to post on this thread about this problem today!

What's odd about it?

Ok, I'm caught up on the news, and its not all that surprising. For anyone else who hits this thread before seeing the news, you really do need to install iOS 11.2 to get this to go away. FYI, I was able to install the update without turning off all my notifications first by plugging my phone into my Mac and using iTunes on the Mac to download the update.

The original issues in this thread from weeks ago are diffeent from the ones that surfaced today.

Every few days, at random times (taking pictures, playing a game, etc.) my iPhone 7+ will do this soft crash thing. The screen turns black, there is a spinning wheel, then it's on my lock screen. It only takes a few seconds, so it's not a full reboot.

Trying to figure out if others are having this. If so, I'll try to ride it out and see if 10.1 fixes it. If I'm the only one, I'm going to try a factory reset (I restored this from a backup of my 6+), and if that doesn't help, take it to the Apple Store.

It only happens every few days, and I can't make it do it on command, so it's going to be hard to prove to Apple that is is happening.
[doublepost=1512249327][/doublepost]Mine is doing the same thing, but only way more often. It is doing it every few minutes. I am doing a software update. Did the usual turn off and turn back on. So far still doing it.

Thank you! Got on here today for this exact problem. Fingers crossed.

It worked!! Thrilled beyond belief. Thank you!!

I just currently started having this issue on my phone - I can't get anything done because it keeps soft resetting before I have a chance to even finish checking for an update. I have little to no cell service and rely on wifi for stuff like this - but even then after a few seconds it goes back to the lock screen.

It's happened no less than every 30 seconds at this point. Any suggestions?

Until the phone was actually updating, while it was downloading and setting up, I had to sit with my phone and unlock it at least 5 times. It kept crashing until the Apple appeared and the update actually started.

Unbelievable how such a bug managed to affect so many people, glad Apple rolled out the 11.2 update to rectify it quickly but still not an excuse that such a critical bug was present in 11.1

My 7+ literally just did the same thing 30 minutes ago. I am now doing a clean install of 11.2. It started doing this today.

What did the Apple Store say? My phone started doing this today.

Have you updated to iOS 11.2 (assuming you are on iOS 11 already)?

Was on apple support was told to turn off all notifications and the issue immediately stopped. I have since updated to 11.2. I was 11.1.2 before.

My wife's iPhone 7 started to do this every 10-30 seconds, consistently, on Tuesday 12/5/17 and it wasn't the date bug (it was fine on 12/2 thru 12/4). I tried changing the date to 12/1 and it didn't help. I turned on do not disturb to turn off all notifications and it didn't stop. The springboard rebooting was so often I couldn't get a backup done.

I had to put the phone into recovery mode and restore iOS in iTunes that night, where it upgraded from 11.1.1 to 11.2, and recovered her data so we didn't have to restore from backup. That was good because our last iTunes backup was 11/14/17 and the last iCloud backup had been 18 hours earlier.

The springboard reloading constantly problem went away, but today iCloud's iMessage keep losing her phone number on her iMac and iPad, and sometimes her iPhone starts sending iMessages from her email instead of her phone number. I wonder if that is related to the 10 minutes we used the phone with the date rolled back to 12/1 (encryption goes nuts I'm told).

Moral of the Story - if not the date bug, you may need to go into recovery mode and restore the iOS firmware. ReiBoot for $49 might help since it won't lose data when you install iOS. I didn't have to buy it this time.

Did you see my post #44 from Wednesday?

I used the ReiBoot app "free version" to put the phone into recovery mode, went into iTunes and restored the iOS, and then I got a screen on the phone saying it was "attempting data recovery" and when iOS was done re-installing everything was back to normal.

I didn't need to pay the $49 for ReiBoot which would then let me download iOS and install it from within ReiBoot, which is the safer way to save you data if you can't get the phone to stop rebooting long enough to back it up. I just used ReiBoot app to go into recovery mode and then used iTunes to restore iOS, instead of using ReiBoot to reinstall iOS. I just got lucky that iTunes didn't wipe her phone completely.

My iPhone 7 does that too, but it happens approximately every minute or so. It’s really inconvenient.
