Pro Max. Wired charging. Out of direct sunlight. Not in the South. AC on. Got the charging paused due to heat. Only thing running was Apple Maps. Apple official clear case.

It's only happened once and since it's now fall in Upstate NY, I doubt I'll see the warning again.

I've had this message from almost every iPhone I've owned at some point. Usually when in the car, the sun sometimes shines right on it when you have it in a mount on the dash. My current MagSafe mount/charger is on an A/C vent, so the phone is getting plenty of cold air while on the mount and that prevents it from overheating.

Fascinating to hear stories of people from hotter regions who routinely experience temperature notifications with iPhone. I was genuinely surprised the first time I tried charging my iPhone 14 Pro Max in my conventional oven.

Maybe Apple will make a MagSafe cooling fan next year for the Air.

My Chevy Impala has a tiny active cooling vent for the wireless charger linked right to the air conditioning.

It's a strangely specific GM feature that's already been phased out due to cost-cutting, but I'm surprised it didn't take off. Vehicles with it could charge at a rate of 15W. Vehicles without it charge at 5W.

Vehicle manufacturers were actually on to something... Cooling phones that didn't need it a decade ago.

The irony for me is that this is the fist (and maybe last?) phone i'm not using a case with, so regardless of other factors, this would make it more temp friendly than my 16 PM with the Apple silicon case. Btw, I never got that warning, but I'm not a heavy user.

An aluminum phone would have required a case. Not trying to justify anything, as I didn't care, and this just occurred to me when I read this thread. I'll get a feel for this after several months probably.
