Yep just use trim enabler or run the command line script that is floating around out there to enable, worked fine on my mid 2009 mac book pro and Kingston ssd drive.

Several people have suggested this. The OP tried it and it doesn't work on his SSD.

Well this is terrific, tried to use Trim Enabler and while it identifies my SSD it says it's not supported.

Scratch #2 above :(

Why are you so adamant about running trim? You should sell that one or see if the eBay seller will accept returns. Then buy a Crucial or Samsung SSD, they don't need trim to run efficiently.

This is my first trip into the world of SSD drives - only reason I went with an Apple SSD is I figured it would be the easiest and most reliable. I have no idea what the effects of NOT having Trim are.

If you google it there are numerous threads about to use or not to use trim. The two SSD's I mentioned have garbage collection built in, which is a good alternative to trim. Also at the top of this forum there is a sticky SSD buying guide. That guide will help you decide which SSD will fit your needs. Most people rave about the crucial M4 or Samsung 830, these two have garbage collection built in the controller and are pretty reliable.

Thanks for the information. I think I'm going to stick with what I have for now (Ebayer won't accept returns) and run without Trim and see what happens.

Good Time Machine Backups !

Have you done a quick test of your read/write speeds yet? That would be good for comparison purposes in a few months if you want to check for performance loss.
