I have both watches a 38mm and a 42mm sport.
I can tell you that the 42mm does last longer.
I take it off the charger at about 6am and by 10pm i have about 35-40% left on the 42mm while the 38mm i have about 20-25%

To save battery set brightness to lowest
Turn off wrist on.
Turn off "hey Siri"
take maps off glances
take hear rate off glances

close apps that you think might be sucking battery by holding the side button till power menu pops up, then press and hold again till app closes.

Thanks! How do I turn off hey Siri?

Off charger at 6am
45 Minute Workout during the day
Moderate activities
Back on charger around 10pm

Battery at 43%. Pretty Impressive.

After the first few days of heavy use, I'm now taking it off at night with 70% battery. I'd like to have options to keep the screen on longer. I find it shuts off too quickly for my liking, and I've got plenty of power to spare.

It doesn't help showing it off to people when the display goes dark within a few seconds... Peoples first impressions are not great as a result.

In fact, I'd like an option to keep the disply on longer and then some way to keep it on indefinitely (until I turn it off or the battery dies). I hate how Apple always thinks they know what's best for me. Give me control FFS! :(

42mm

It's 8:52pm here. I took the watch off the charger at about 10:30am. I have 75% battery left.

Haha. Perhaps it because you have a very short day?
I put my watch on at 5:45 and off at about 11:30 my wife's day is an hour or so longer so her battery is always lower (38mm vs my 42mm) but I still seems to have between 20% and 50% left. I use workout too for up to 90mins a day.

After the initial thrill I use my watch little more than I've used any watch. Obviously I get notifications and look at them and I look at glances to see what's going on with the weather and my activity.

What are you all doing with your watch that causes the battery to go below 50%?

Getting up earlier? ;)

I used my Watch for working out a few days ago. I was responding to texts, had it track my heart rate constantly, used it to control my iPhone's music, notifications, etc. Overall about a 2 hour workout. With other usage throughout the day, it got down to 27% which is the lowest I have seen. Most nights I put it back on the charger at 50-60% remaining. Overall, extremely happy with the battery life.

I have the 42mm Sport FWIW.

Not a bad idea. How long does it take you to charge?

I've been thinking about this, but I like putting my watch on first thing so it will start tracking my steps and counting my stand up time.

I just like to wear a watch while I am sleeping. Basically because I wake up several times during the night. I glance at my watch to understand if I can keep sleeping or if I can start making coffee.

This morning my Apple watch was at the 51% full level. I did put it on the charger before taking the shower and preparing the breakfast. After that the watch stated fully charged 100%. Not sure how long it took.

I'm on a weird schedule and charge the watch a few times a day.

Charge the watch the night before to 100% before I put it on to go to bed. (I use the silent alarm to wake me up)

It's usually at somewhere around 86% when I wake up from 6 hours or so of sleep.

Throw it on the charger while I get ready to go to the gym and head to the gym when it's at 100%

45-90 min at the gym takes it down about 90%

Charge it while I shower and it gets to 100%

Go to work

While at work I take 4 walks during the day; 3 for about 15-20 min (which includes my walk home from the bus) and 1 hour for lunch.

Last few days it's been between 30%-45% by the time I get home and that's when I throw it on the charger again to have it fresh for when I go to bed.

Last night I did go for a late night walk and my sisters called me and I chatted with them on the watch for 20-30 min. By the time I put it on the charger the watch was at 10%.

I also noticed a difference in battery life depending on watch face you have running. I ran Mickey Mouse for several days taking off charger at 8 am and at 9 pm around 30 percent left from full charge. Switched to Utility face off charger at 8 and at 10 pm still around 50% on full charge...

My use during the day is checking texts, emails, weather and heart rate

Today my 90 minute workout using the HR monitor drained the battery 20%. I end the night at about 10% regularly.

I had a one-hour workout yesterday. Not sure how much it drained it, but I still had enough to try going to bed with it and woke up at 30%

I'm using the watch from about 5:00am to 10:30 pm daily.
No issues with the battery, but if I have a more active day, not to mention logging a workout, it drains much faster.

ok so Friday was basically my first full day of using the Apple watch, from 9am until night (about 11pm) and I used it somewhat often throughout the day, as I would probably on a normal day, with the odd checking notifications and frequently checking time. Had a somewhat active day, ultimately logging 20k steps/1172 calories (see pics).

So today (saturday) I worked, which is in retail/customer service where I would normally not carry a phone, so I just wore my watch but on airplane mode/do not disturb/silent mode, just checking the time once in awhile. I thought that having the watch disconnected from the phone and supposedly doing nothing but checking time and tracking my activity the battery would last, especially compared to friday when it was connected to the phone and being used? But by the end of my 8hour shift I only had about 20% left!! And activity just logged like 300cal/5k steps.

So any Ideas on what might have caused the battery to drain so fast when the watch wasn't even being used or connected to iPhone? Any apps or something that may be running in the background taking up battery? I'm very confused right now haha. Also I know there is a battery reserve feature, but I do wish to continue tracking my activity while i'm working, and if I understand correctly battery/power reserve function would not track any activity?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I'm not totally sure, but on my second day of use the battery went to 10% within 12 hours and was at ZERO by 14 hours (completely drained and shut down). After charging overnight, I have NEVER approached levels that low again.
I wonder if maybe the watch is "learning" our usage patterns and optimizes the battery/features accordingly. It "learns" our pace on runs to become more accurate - even without the phone; so I wonder if it does similar things in terms of efficient battery use?

Those people might want to start using their other hand for an "exciting stranger" experience. :)

I don't think the watch face has anything thing to do with it, unless you mean that you are constantly looking at the mickey face to see him tap his foot and change directions at 6 o'clock. All the other faces are so boring.
