My well used and loved 27" Apple Thunderbolt display will be retired when the Studio display arrives this week - after 11 years of faithful use....

Apple's Thunderbolt display has been the best display for text & Mac fonts with super sharp resolution without the eye strain for text, web editing, and forums. It has been used with: Macbook Pro 2011, Mac Mini 2012 Server, MacBook Pro 16" 2019, and currently M1 Mini.

Now I am getting quite nervous about replacing it with the Studio display.

My second side display (Samsung 32" 4K) is also dying so I ordered an LG 27UK850-W 4K HDMI monitor for video / streaming use.

Will report back when I have both operating....

Ordered LG 4K:

My M1 iMac did great with video and streaming but not very good with text editing.

The 11 year old Thunderbolt has excellent text / font display that my eyes don't tire.

Hoping the Studio display will be as sharp as my ancient TB display...

UPDATE:
LG 4K display was a flop - matte plastic screen clashed with the 2022 Studio display's glossy front and didn't line up well with Apple's newest display.

Re-used the 2011 27" Thunderbolt display using Apple's TB3-TB2 adapter.

Worked out super well with both displays having glossy fronts and they line up pretty well!

Expected, I have the LG 27UL850 4K monitor and it is really not good. Fake HDR (350 nits), 60Hz, bad colour reproduction, poor contrast, typical PC monitor matte screen… etc.

Interesting. I’ve had the LG 31” 4K monitor for about 4 years (32UL750W) and haven’t had any complaints about it. It actually holds up well next to the M1 iMacs display. I’d like to replace it with a new studio display soon but I don’t know how it would look next to an m1 iMac.
