My office is full of designers and they love the 13in MacBook Pros we give them. They come in the office, plug in their display and we give them bluetooth keyboards and mice. We have a couple of people on 15in macBooks but they are the higher ups that do a lot more work on thee road and the IT department.

You got more than you deserve for an internship. The guy you are working for must really care for you.
You have a great laptop, be thankful. The screen is just fine when on the go. Get an external monitor for a desktop setup if you are bothered by the small screen.
