That is tough to look at. Check with Apple, but I would be surprised if it is cost effective to fix.

I've done the same, got into an argument and threw a 2009 13" MBP. It bent pretty much in half. :( It cost me around $800 to fix. Call up apple customer support and tell them what's broken and they will quote you a price, the $800 is the top tier (as in the most damaged).

How much did the shrink cost?

Thats not good. George Carlin once talked about the topic , Battered plant syndrome and the torture the average house plant has to endure, like leaving your plants in the toilet and hanging your plants.. But this is a whole new ballgame that must be addressed. Battered Macbook pro syndrome. Oh the horror.

It hurts to just look at these pictures.

You'd be better off buying a new machine as fixing it will cost much more!

Make him buy you a new one, then sell the damaged one for a few hundred bucks and maybe buy some accessories with that money ;)

Those pictures sure do make me feel better about the little dents I have on the bottom of my MBP.

Good luck!

Make him buy you a new one deffo, will be pricey to repair. I'd either sell it as spares or give it to your brother to have if he wants to pay to get it fixed

That is a shame dude, sucks when people get angry and all of a sudden respect for anything goes out the window.

Hope you get it sorted out soon, and also that your brother after the expense of replacing it, realises that no matter how angry he is, throwing anything at anyone is silly.

does this remind you of this?

Nucksfan? As in Vancouver?

Didn't they lose against Chicago the other night?

How did this get down voted? This was the funniest thing I have read in a while!

The followup by Nucksfan was also classic as he knew exactly what was meant and rolled with it - I guess you have to be a hockey fan...

Haha, ya.. I'm a pretty big Canucks fan though that was not why he threw it lol.
btw I don't live near an apple store so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with how much these repairs cost.
Thanks

I didn't know that besides Apple rumors, I'd be getting my fix of hockey humor as well - what a bargain :D

Your brother buys you a new one and you give him the damaged one. He can get the damaged one fixed and sell it or use it if he wants. You shouldn't be the one to feel the additional pain and inconvenience of getting and waiting for it to be fixed.

yea have him buy you a new one and give the broken one back to him. and when i say back to him, i really mean throw it back at him

Go to the Apple store and say that this is how it came out of the box and you just noticed it.

You could always list it for sale on eBay -- "almost new condition with small scratch on side".

Pardon My French, But Your Brother's an ******* :p

[For those of you who don't know, im quoting Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and tweaking some words :) ]

@OP: do you need a laptop now? if not, i suggest you tell your brother to give you cash [i would say tell him to pay for the original cost of the laptop] and use that to buy a new Ivy Bridge [when those come out] or buy a cheap end laptop now.
Ivy Bridge will be the mother of processors in 2012!

no b/c in the end he still gets something out of it. You make him buy you a new one, you fix and resell the old, then beat the **** out of your brother with a bar of soap in a sock while he is sleeping like they did in Full Metal Jacket

Could you not claim on home insurance? Be a lot cheaper than a repair or buying a new one.

Usually homeowners insurance has a deductible that has to get paid first. Then after you make a claim, your rates go up, too. Probably not worth it for the price of a computer.

As others have said already, get it replaced and then part it out or sell it as one big lump on eBay. Your brother should get the proceeds from that, so you might even just hand it to him once he buys you a new machine and let him worry about it.

It's sad to see this kind of thing. You know what? Make him buy you a new one.....I don't think that's gonna be an economic repair anyway, he will learn that throwing macs around damages your wallet, and he might think twice before he does it again.

Get him some anger management classes as a Christmas present too.
