What is so confusing about this? Multiple, multiple people have confirmed that 199/299 for everyone, no matter what.
Yes, if you bought an HTC touch 6 months ago subsidized w. 2 yr agreement, you can still get the iPhone for 199 and sign another 2 yr agreement, AT&T does not normally do this, for obvious reasons, but apparently they are making an exception for the iPhone

Has AT&T issued an official statement or updated their website with this information? No, they haven't. Instead, they used some cryptic language that's not entirely clear on details.

As for your point that multiple people have confirmed it, that means nothing. Just because a few misinformed CSRs told some callers that doesn't make it AT&T's official policy. Additionally, there could have been misunderstandings during those conversations.

Until AT&T makes it officially crystal clear to the public, you and anyone else of the general public know nothing about it.

Link?

Until Apple or AT&T posts the clear meaning of "qualified" it's all speculation.

My mom just called AT&T today to talk about switching over.

Our family of 5 is going to get 4 iPhones and one regular phone. At first we were going to get the $1 blackjacks now then in a month get the iPhones. Then he put us on hold for a while to talk to his manager. He came back and said that we would not get the iPhones for the cheep $199 and $299 prices if we get the blackjacks beforehand.

Ahhh why don't they just make up their mind. We cant really tell them that we read on the internet that they are wrong. What should we do? Our family is going to Australia for 5 weeks soon and kind of want to get rid of verizon before then so we can use our phones.

I had wanted to work out a similar arrangement, except with AT&T's normally free phones (not previous-gen). The only way that they would be able to accommodate us is by taking advantage of the 30 day return policy and buying the iPhones at launch with a new plan.

Weird stuff on my AT&T account

I purchased my iPhone on 6/30. At the time, I was already an AT&T customer for 10+ years, the lead phone on a family plan. I believe I was about 14 months into a two year commitment on my line. This is what my upgrade status is right now:

"This line is eligible for equipment discount pricing when you sign up for a 2-year service agreement. You can also take advantage of our no-commitment pricing option.

We can offer you an additional discount up to $50.00 off regular 2-year contract pricing with a waived upgrade fee."

Soooo, have they reset my account to pre-iPhone? Am I going to get $50 off the $299 price? How did this happen if I signed a two-year when I bought my iPhone?

Why does everyone who calls ATT says that everyone gets the $199/$299 price and everyone else is speculating that you won't? It seems that the folks who are speaking with the ATT reps have better info (info that is current as of the point of talking with them)

I'll be willing to spend 400 dollars if they don't add a new contract and they give me a dock. Because wasn't the point of taking out the dock to keep down costs?

update

Well an update on my situation...... I just got a letter from AT&T today, offering me a free phone and saying I was pre-approved for a contract.

So I called up AT&T, and after about 15 minutes of getting through the automated system, lol, I did get to speak to someone. And asked if I could use this letter as a pre-approval of an iphone contract. The rep seemed to think that I could use the letter as a pre-approval, although of course not for a discount on an iphone. So, I guess this seems like good news, like I might be able to get one, we'll see.

I do still feel for all of us on the prepaid plan though, and feel we should make a support group thread come July 11th.
