What's the design flaw? All the whiners crying about their broken glass need to answer one question..... Did the screen break while the phone was just sitting there or did you drop aka abuse the phone? If it broke while you were just standing there minding your own business, that is a design flaw. If you abused the phone aka dropped it, tuff titties! Maybe you should be more careful with your $700 phone.

For every device, the first and foremost function of the frame/case is to provide structural strength and protect the internals. Who would think that some day glass may become a material of choice (for some stupid designers from Apple) for phone cases. I bet that if a year ago someone would suggest to make the phones out of glass people would laugh to death and yet here we are defending what clearly is a stupid design decision.

It's a bit of a give away that apple starts making bumpers for generation 4 when they realise the phone breaks easily

I think most broken ip4 are of the back.

Guessing the strong glass is probably only used for the front.

Might want to try genius bar and see whether they'll replace it. At least it's easy for Apple to change the back panel.
