My dad's in surgery *right now*

Thanks everybody for the support. He'll 'prolly be home..ah, around 4-5-ish pm central time.

See - I told you.

I went in for surgery at 8:00 a.m., was out at 10:00, in my room at 11:00 and begging to be let go at 2:00.

They finally let me out at 5:00. Then I puked all over the fron entrance sidewalk waiting for my ride. They were trying to tell me that they had to readmit me for the nausea and vomiting. "You said you felt fine, Mr. Reich."

"I'll feel even better when I get home and take 4 Percocets - I'm not going back in there."

Hospitals suck.

Good news - congrats!

That is great news. Your very welcome my friend, that is what friends are for after all. Please let us know how he is doing when he gets home.
 
Well, the worst part is over now, worrying. I'm happy that your dad is alright now. I pray for your dad's speedy recovery and best wishes for your family.
 
Ok, he's home. Half his neck is yellow from some cleaner at the hospital. He's up in bed... and I'm taking care of him :)

He'll be back at work on Tuesday. :)

Your very welcome my friend. The yellow is probably Betadine. It is used to clean and prep for surgery. A good antiseptic.

I'm sure that you Dad really appreciates all of your help. I wish him all the best with a good and speedy recovery.

glad things turned out well. i am sure he will be fine and the better in the end of it all.

such a good son to be taking care of him too. :D
 
Omg!!!

OMG!!!

My dad called my step mom and said "Shelly... get off the phone now. I need you to come here." I was like "$hít." somethings up. Well, I walk in the bathroom and say, "Dad, you ok?" "No, I'm not. I need Shelly up here, now!" I see tons of blood. I call Shelly, "Shelly!!!! OMG GET UP HERE!!" She's like, "What Matt?" She walks in the bathroom and says, "Oh, ****."

I can't be in there...

Your Dad continues to be in my prayers. It's just one of the risks of major surgery. I know that the doctors and nurses will give him the best of care. I'm here for support. Will look forward to your update my friend.
 
I had two bulging discs removed between L4 and L5 and L5 and L6 about 3 years ago. It's not fun.

He'll be uncomfortable for a few days while he's in the hospital, but be sure to advocate on his behalf when it comes to keeping him well medicated. After a couple weeks, he'll feel MUCH more better than he did leading up to this surgery.

Bulging discs absolutely suck. They brought me to tears and anger for a long time before the surgery, but he'll be good as new when they're done with him.

He's lucky to have you during this rough time right now. Know that he's in my thoughts and prayers as he presses forward toward his recovery and his new life without pain. God bless.

Just got a call from Shelly... She said he's stopped bleeding, but he may have to stay over night + possibly another surgery :(

Just keep the faith my friend. Your Dad is in the best of hands at the moment. I will continue to keep you and your Dad in Prayer.

That is a very good sign!

Thank you for keeping us up to date. I hope you get good news soon so you can sleep tonight! But... I'm sure it's just a matter of time before he's back home and fine.
 
*Update*

Well, my Dad went through another surgery. He came back out perfectly fine. He's spending the night at the hospital.

Hopefully this is the last time we go to the hospital in a while. :eek:

All is good....for now. :eek:

It'll be fine. I remember having minor surgery on my nose and going back to the ER a few hours later but it was all minor. I even stressed myself too early a couple of weeks later and ended up in the ER for some minor cleanup.

Things happen...it works out. :)
 
at least by staying overnight they can make sure everything is all well and good before releasing him.

relax, things will be alright.
 
Bad news.

Bad news. My dad had to stay home from work today because he is having serious back pain. It's not muscle spasms... it's another disk bothering him :(...

when will this stop :( :eek:
