Dog is truly Man's best friend!

No doubt about it, the dog is man's best bud.....

I proved it awhile ago. Here's how:

I put my wife and my dog in the trunk of my car, and left them in there for about an hour....

When I opened the trunk -
Guess which one was happy to see me!!! :D:mad:

Agreed.

Sorry to the OP for his loss. Think of the good times you had and the wonderful life you had given him :). It's always tragic to lose a loved one but I always find it's easier to cope with the loss by celebrating their life as opposed to mourning them.

Thanks you two. thats is what I am realizing. its making sense too

hahahah thats great! I know mosey would still be mad, but relieved. ;)

I can not speak about a wife. Dude Im 17 lol

No offense taken, and yes, they do. ;)

Maybe the next generations of OSX will be named after dogs.

labpord! I call it that... usually when I screw up though ahhah:p

OP, sorry for your loss. :(

Thanks for the condolences.:(

This guy is my best friend and confidante. Dogs are non-judgmental, and unconditionally loving and loyal.

So, so sorry for your loss. I love animals more than I do people.

so cute, and clean :D moses only had like 4 REAL bathes in his whole life lol. :D hes an out doors guy :)

I forgot. 17 is the new 25 lolol ;)

That's such a pity. Waking up tomorrow will be hard knowing that it wasn't just some bad dream. I don't know how he died but what I do I know is that he died after 13 years of being loved by you. You may have lost your best friend but Moses also lost his.

You cried a lot when he died? Good, that helps. It's wonderful to know such compassion still exists. You will never forget Moses, nor should you. you will, however, have many more friends in the many years to come.

I wish all all the best in the future.

you have a wonderful soul;)

sorry to hear that.... its tough to go through....

no matter what my day holds I know when i get home theres my best pal there waiting and wagging his tail wanting nothing more then a pat on the head and my lap to lay in ....

only time will heal and help so hold the good times close

so sorry for you. :( My dog of 13 years died in nov. 05 and I still miss him. My advice is not to rush out and get another dog just yet - give yourself some time to get over this loss.

again, sorry for your loss. :(

yeah, I just realized how long I will have to wait before getting a new puppy(ies). I just woak up and am just crying, this is so sad. I just my best pal!

my situation:

I have never been a verry good school student so this year on highschool we are trying online, which I am now soooo glad we did.

I would check on mosey alllll the time and I eventually put his blanket under my window so I could just check on him all the time. and then I tok off the screen so I could pet wen ever. I have had a very hard life for a child. Both grandfathers died when I was 7.... With in 6 months of each other.:( I loved my gradndpa that lived here more then anything.after that, we had tough financial times for years! and now my dad has suuuuuuuuch a great paing job with 3M and things were looking up, cool stuff, got a pool put in. But then moses died and I just feel like everything bad is back... TIMES 10.:(:(:(:(

It sooo suck's. and I have learned to treasure the pet in my life wayy more! alway's love, take that extra hour out of my life to give him a bath, I used to just go out side and pet moses. he was the sweetest dog in the world. just so cute and he was more loving then anything! :(:(:(

geeze. why now!

Sorry for your loss. We lost our 12.5 yr old Rottweiler, Onyx, in November '06 after being diagnosed with bone cancer 3 months earlier. My wife and I were married on Oct 15th 06 and you can imagine how hard it was trying to be upbeat with all the stress of planning a wedding, added to knowing that you don't have much time left with your dog and wondering if she was even going to make it to the wedding date (we considered postponing the wedding).

The wedding date came and went, and then we had to deal with going on our honeymoon and risking losing her while we were gone - not to mention the burden of asking my parents to make the decision in the event that she took a turn for the worst. The honeymoon came and went, my sister sent us pics from her camera phone so we could see how she was doing (this ended up being the last picture we have of her, it's still the background pic on my cell phone).

We got back from the honeymoon, and the following week, we came home from work and she couldn't get up on her own anymore. We made the call to the vet and took her in that night and had her put to sleep on Nov. 3rd. It was almost as if she knew that we needed her to hang on, and once we got home from the honeymoon she knew it was her time to move on. (When we took her in, I called my old boss and friend Jim because Onyx was originally the shop dog where I used to work. After I left the company, Jim sold the business and my wife and I agreed to take Onyx home to retire when she was 9.) Well when we got to the vet, Jim was there waiting along with 2 other longtime friends and former co-workers. The vet said it was the most people they'd ever seen for an animal being put to sleep. Having them there definitely made it easer to get through it.

My wife and I went to the local shelter and rescued Ruby, a 1.5 yr old Staffordshire terrier on January 18th, 2007. It was definitely strange not having the dog greeting you at the door anymore and laying on your legs while you watch TV on the couch. At first we couldn't imagine that another dog could replace Onyx, but in the year since, Ruby has become as much a part of the family as Onyx ever was. We will always remember her, and we honor her memory by giving Ruby the same great treatment and affection. To Quote George Carlin, "Life is a series of dogs".

Not to repeat what everyone else is saying but give it at-least a few months before getting a new dog, you'll find things that'll remind you of your dog for the next few weeks which is a bit tough and it hurts more if you have a new dog that's jumping in your face whilst your feeling down.

My previous dog was very fit and healthy up until she had her flu jabs (aged 13), then she was just didn't do anything, 2 days later we found out she had cancer and she was put down.

It's not nice losing a pet that you love , it feels like they were more than a dog/cat/ etc, but eventually you get to the stage where you can just think "yeah, he/she had a good life, we had some laughs, we had fun" and it helps, alot.

I so agree about them knowing to hang on, I kept telling moses, make it to your birthday. and he did. and I told him joey(my brother and the one that taught moses all of his tricks) was coming! and he let go one day to early.

Joey si very bummed but soooo totally understand's why. he just wanted to get to say good bye to moses.

I am balling now. it hurt so bad to wake up, my morning ritual is to go out and check on him and give him his food and water.

I just wander if there was anything I could have done.

my parents are wanting to go to the human society today

its hurting.

I agree, I have done nothing but cry all day long. and then listening to my parents say, ohhh wow look at this dog and that one, its not helping.

yesterday all I was thinking was, lets go get a new dog. and today, I feel so different. :(

So sorry to read of your loss. I'd wait a bit before getting another to properly grieve and give the new pup a fresh start.

My Golden named Amber died and I switched breeds to Jack Russells. I just kept comparing all other Goldens to her and they couldn't stack up.

Jack's are awesome dogs too. My new fav breed.

yeah, my dad had one as a kid. soooo loyal!

My idiot, hearltess, impulsive parents decided to buy a dog today.. border terrier.... ewww. :(

ugly!

but we are also looking at a HUGE block head yellow lab that we might get tomorrow.

the border terrier is VERY hyper! and seems to enjoy playing with toys.

we are adopting them from the humain society.save a dog you know :(

I agree, waayyy too soon for this. I just picture mosey laying on the pool deck EVERY time I close my eye's or go out to were the door's were I caught the first glimpse of my dog's shell.

it is so odd how they are just so weightless and lifeless when they die. You can bend them anyway you want.

I did not screw around.. I will post pictures of the ****** new mut's tomorrow.. it feels soooooo wrong.:(:(:(

UPDATE~ my parents got two new dog's today. the first I already mentioned and a yellow lab. I do not want the little dog but the lab will be fine

I just miss moses. it will be sad to see two DIFFERENT dog's in my backyard.

we adopted both from the humane society, better then them getting gassed.

When my first dog died it was about 3 years before the next one. My other dog died 17 months ago. He was 15. It is never easy to lose a pet. I will say it takes about a year to truly get over it. Don't get the same breed as it will remind you do much of the other dog. I think every pet should have it's own personality. Eventually I will get another dog but it is nice to be able to travel and not have to worry about who takes care of it.

I'm sorry, I know you've heard that a lot. I lost my first dog ever about a year ago now. She was a beagle named Lady and she just go old....

Hardest thing ever was taking her to the vet. 13 years old but man, she was a fighter!

Sorry for the loss of your dog. :(

Sorry about your dog. It can hurt alot because we get sooo attached to that friend that is always there for us.
My favorite dog ever, Dottie, died this week last year. I cried for months. We got her before we had kids and she was so patient with them when they were young and not so nice to her. She would walk around crying if she heard one of our girls (sometimes 3 houses away) outside crying hurt. She was gentle, sweet and protective. We got her as a rescue dog and believe she was 13 yrs old.
We got a new dog, freckles, last May. He has fit in just fine, but no Dottie.
