Every time I hook up my FW800 cable from my MBP to my G5 to transfer files it uses my wireless network instead of the cable. So instead of me turning off my Airport card every time I want to use my firewire cable, is there anyway to make the G5 use the firewire as the primary way to transfer files when I plug in my cable?

When it comes to file sharing your Mac would default to the wifi because thats your LAN connection. Turning off airport then connecting the cable is the easiest way to go IMO. It's better than going into the network prefs all the time. Keep AP in the menubar and you can turn it on or off with 2 clicks.

How about dragging the FW to the top of the network connection list on the network preferences? Would that default the network connection to FW?

When he turns off wifi and then connects the cable it will default to the cable as that is the only current source. This is easier than making the FW cable the default as it's not his main LAN connection.

It's just easier to cater to what is used the most.

I was hoping there would be a fix, but oh well. By the way, FW800 is the t*ts. Moved over 35GB of files in 12 minutes.

Will this video card work with my Dual 1.8 G5?

A dual 1.8 doesn't even have PCI Express so you won't even be able to plug the card into the board. Not only that but the card also doesn't have a Mac ROM so even if you did have the right slot you couldn't use it without flashing it first.

So the answer is no in 2 different ways. You need to do a bit of research on what you actually have to work with in your G5. You need AGP graphics.
