1st iphone 3g had cracks in the plastic housing out of the box. 2nd iphone had 1 hour battery life. now the third replacement has a faulty ringer silent switch. it is impossible to switch without using two hands. the switch is crooked and jams regularly. it is incredible difficult to flick the switch over and requires exxesive amounts of force. the home button also recognises about 1 in 3 click. it is unresponsive and does not recognise every press. should i take it back to apple again. i have booked an apointment for tomorrow evening but is it worth it. these are bad problems. i just dont wont to get another dud. apple must be getting sick of me but i do not believe i am being to picky. tell me what you think.
I don't think you're being picky, but this is a good reminder of the risks of returning for cosmetic defects. You may get one with flaws that actually affect performance.

Reading all these threads like this make me think that quality control is simply non existent on the iphone line. It's quite disturbing actually.

I had those exact symptoms with my silent switch also, until it broke off last night. I have an appt after work so I'll see what they say. you should return it, it will break off.

Went last night, and they swapped it out for a new one. I notice a big different in the switch now, much easier to flip back and forth.

I'm headed into tomorrow for my fourth unit. First one had dust, second had 3 stuck pixels and the third has 5 stuck pixels.

I'd like to throw in to the mix that my 16GB White is 100% perfect- no scratches, cracks, uneven bezeling/glass, not a single problem and I haven't exchanged at all... so don't worry guys, it's the same as any product. This guy just happens to be unlucky... and to him, don't expect anything less than perfect... if you're paying for something (especially this expensive) and you're going to keep it for two years, don't settle!

I'm on my 3rd White iPhone. The first had a dark spot the size of a fingerprint on the middle of the screen. The second had a noticeable light leak on the left side along with a few stuck pixels. The third appears to be flawless so far. I won't complain too much because this is the first experience I have had with returning a product from Apple. I appreciate their willingness to appease the consumer.
