I was thinking of how they could name the next iPhone.
Since it is the 4th Gen and they may put the A4 chip.
iPhone A4
I like it.
Sorry if this thought was posted already.

I've been thinking about the same thing... but I wonder if they'll be able to fit this chip into the next iPhone with all the other crap that has to be fitted.

Only time will tell.

Maybe the chip will be called "A+"? Which would put an interesting spin on Steve's recent comment about the "next iPhone being an A+ release"

I don't think chips change size that much. I thought form factor was rather standardized to make it easier to incorporate.

Even so, that's what Apple bought PA for. PA will most likely build Apple's next chip for the iPhone 4G.

I honestly hope they just go to iPhone 4th Gen, but have unofficial names (like how MacBook Pros are new referred to Unibodies but that's not their real name).

It's gonna get confusing "iPhone 3!GS+, iPhone 4G20".

Just like how 'iPad' was the obvious choice, so I feel that 'iPhone 4G' will the obvious choice, also, as it makes sense for a variety of reasons.

They are not going to call it that. That is just going to be confusing to consumers.

iPhone 3G is Apple's second generation iPhone which does 3G
iPhone 3GS is Apple's third generation iPhone which does 3G

It's not going to be called iPhone 4G unless it is a 4G phone.

I can see it now, Instant Law Suit by Audi !
Doubt it; not only does Audi partner with Apple with the iPod integration, one is a car manufacturer and the other an electronics OEM; that's not to mention Audi already did pretty well when they got sued by Nissan over the Q7 moniker (and subsequently won); don't think they'd try their luck again.

Well, in the past Apple has changed the iPhone's name to reflect the major changes to the previous device but they can't just keep tacking on letters and numbers to the end unless they want to completely confuse people. Most people won't have a clue as to what A4 stands for and it doesn't highlight a new feature of the phone, just a hardware change, so I think it's unlikely they'll go for it.

Personally, I think (and hope) they'll just go back to "iPhone"
