I had to make a very hard decision today... well, hard for me.

I had the choice between an iPhone 4S or HTC Sensation XE (both off contract & unlocked). Judging by my name, you would have probably guessed that I chose the iPhone. You are absolutely wrong. I chose the Sensation XE.

I didn't choose it for the headphones, I own a pair of Lady Gaga Hearbeats anyway. I chose it because of its raw speed and looks. I'm not diving into specs, but generally speaking, it's faster. Looks wise, the iPhone might be glass and aluminum, but I prefer the all black with red highlights. That looks sexy to me.

I'm not computer retarded, so updates won't be a problem. I don't care if I'm getting updates a few weeks/months late... unless its a "if you don't have this, your device will self-destruct" update. All the apps I use normally are available on the Market so no huge "migration" process is need. The new HTC sync supports iTunes, so all my album art gets transferred as well.

So what am I trying to say? There are other phones out there besides iPhones ya know. ;)

So, tell me what your motivation was for this post. I am willing to bet nearly everyone on this message board knows "there are other phones out there." Are you feeling guilty and trying to make yourself feel better about your purchase by rationalizing this decision to a large audience? Do you simply like goading people who make different decisions than you?

Please enlighten us Oh "Genius."

What makes you actually think I give a crap what phone you buy?

And Lady gaga? LOLOLOL

...and the herd is thinned out by another.

What do you expect to get comments from Iphones's lovers when you tell them you dump an Iphone over an HTC?

You will receive lot of nice comment, appreciation and welcomes from HTC's forum. :D

I wish I could enjoy a Android phone. I personally think the OS is better and more flexible. Apps are no longer a real issue, although the fragmentation in the Android does delay some apps from getting out to all phones quickly.

I just can't find a android phone with a standard battery that can last me all day. 6-8 hours is the best I could do and that isn't enough.

I refuse to use an extended battery. I shouldn't have to carry a brick around because android manufactures can't design a phone with a big enough batter it in. (The Motorola Razr MAXX doesn't count as I won't use a Verizon phone.)

Just go with what fits your needs, I switched to 4s but now I'm back on the galaxy nexus for bigger screen and navigation. My wife however loves her new iPhone as it fits her needs just fine since she's not a power user. My only gripe is the crappy battery life with 4g,which basically makes it a useless feature unless you want to be chained to the outlet at all times.

On the topic of Heartbeats, they were on sale ($49.99) and they are actually quite good. It's not worth it if its not on sale though. I have the original (triangle) ones and they look fine on a guy. But hey, to each his/her own.

Oh yeah, how is sharing my experience with the internet considered trolling. It's not like I bash Apple. I owned many Apple products and probably will own many more.

You came to a website about Apple products to talk about your android phone. No real reason except a fandroid troll.

Not really. This is an APPLE related forum not just a phone forum. A lot of people on here have a LOT of Apple stuff. Why would they/we/I choose a mobile phone that doesn't fit with the rest of their/our/my stuff?

Even if the iPhone isn't the best at everything, why would someone want to add a nonstandard item to their collection?

So what ARE you trying to say?

either your blind or dumb, look at the top youl see the format like this:

macrumors forums > Iphone, ipod and ipad > Iphone > My hard decision....

now i could be wrong but this *subforum* is for iphones last time i checked iphones were just phones, hence this subforum is for phones which are the iphone type...

as gene wilder once said in willy wonka, GOOD DAY SIR!!!

I made a simlar decision except in my case it was the HTC Vivid with LTE.

I keep my iphone 4 as an ipod but the LTE on the Vivid is the main reason I switched. The larger screen is 2nd.

I was leaning towards the sensation xe but eventually got the galaxy s2. My reasoning was that the Samsung has better hardware. You can't change the hardware. You can however buy a case and install software to make it look like an xe :p

I have an iPad but don't want an iPhone as its basically just a mini iPad. Same software, same apps, etc. what's the point in having both? May as well buy a smartphone with a different OS then you have the best of both worlds.

And as for Macs...they're a steaming pile of poo IMO :(

Meh...I've had 3 Android phones (Hero,Evo 4g, Nexus S 4g) prior to the 4s. They were great at the time, and by great I mean they held me over until Sprint got a version of the iPhone. Nothing overly spectacular about needing to root a phone to tweak battery settings or to purchase a larger battery/back door combo in order for it to last throughout the day. (the Mugen battery for my Nexus was $90). Yeah widgets were cool and different launchers could be used to customize it even more, but, i'm happy with a phone that doesn't crash, reset at random points, and can last me over 24 hours of usage for what I need it for. To each their own, but i'm sticking with iOS.

This thread taught me one thing. The word troll gets overused. "I do not share the opinion or see why the OP posted, therefore he is a troll". The Internets has become a silly place indeed.

You know what I meant. When I said FORUM I meant the WHOLE of Macrumors. Isn't Macrumors exclusively for Apple stuff? I'm not wrong there am I?

Macrumors is not a generic mobile phone site is it? I'm not wrong there either am I?

Do the people who post here not have a penchant for Apple stuff and generally have many items made by Apple already? Am I correct in that assumption?

He is comparing the phones he was deciding from. The better question is, why are so many people so defensive over the macrumors forums that if anything without the Apple logo gets mentioned they freak out and tell it to go away? Don't like the post? Thumb it down and move on with your life. If you keep posting all you are successfully doing is bumping the thread, thus getting more people to see it, obviously foiling your goals.

Leave OP alone - to each his own! This post doesn't make him/her a troll. And he/she can report back after a few months with the new phone and let us know if it's still a good decision or if he/she misses their iPhone (I'm betting on the latter):p. I'd like a slightly bigger screen (nothing more than 4") and native voice navigation but I'm not willing to trade battery life, build quality, hardware/software integration, predictable, reliable updates and general lack of bugginess that Apple offers for Android. But it's perfectly fine with me if it works for someone else!
