The first sales associate was completely wrong when I posted that. She quickly directed me to use 1-800-MY-APPLE to cancel. The phone representative could not make any changes. She said the order had been sent to the store, so it was locked until pick up (but the order is stuck in processing and could not be picked up). This is a real pickle.
I should add everyone at Apple said it is a known issue with multiple items on an order. They felt it should be resolved sometime today. They also admitted most are accessories that get stuck in processing, so $49 - $79 held for a few days is not that big a deal. They were very sympathetic that more than a $1000 iPad Air with AppleCare+ is the issue on my order.
I had no issues with my pickup and I ordered the iPad Air, a red Smart Cover, and AppleCare+ as one order. Smart Cover was available first( within 15 minutes of the order). What I found weird was when I got the smart cover was ready email, it said the iPad was preparing to ship to the store. That got me a bit panicked, but an hour after the order was submitted the iPad Air and AP+ went to ready for pick up.
I had an amazing experience. I purchased the iPad Air online and asked to pick up at one of the Apple Stores close to my work. I stopped by around 8:20AM and there were probably 8 people in line outside the store and an Apple guy managing the line. He asked if he could help me and I said I had a pick up. I was asked to wait since I was the first in line for store pick up. In less than 1 minute another Apple guy came and asked me to follow him. He brought my iPad and was very nice and asked where I worked. I told him the name of the company I work for and he said I was eligible for a corporate discount since my company was a business customer of Apple. I had no clue about that. He then offered to return my online purchase and I would purchase the same iPad again in the store and he would apply the corporate discount. I was amazed with the service. I got a discount on the iPad, Apple Care and smart cover.
