I waited in line on launch day and bought one for myself. Now that is a cool story bro!

I, myself, had a weird episode with iPad2. Although nothing like this guy's story.

I actually stalked every retailer in town for almost a week and, eventually, had success with the Target inventory check online (see related forum, if you haven't by now). I got home, played with my iPad from Thursday through Sunday and that night I decided that an iPad is not for me. My iPhone gives me all the iOS my heart desires and there was no need for me to keep it.

It's an awesome device, beautifully designed, and the overall experience is great but I think I'm gonna have to go for an 11" MBA since it has that 'cute and tiny' form factor I'm looking for but still pacs a full-blown OS.

Long story short: I posted it on CraigsList at 7:30am, and by 8:15 I had $640 in my hand (I swear, this guy traveled at the speed of light to my side of town and something tells me that iPad is going to end up where it originated from. Just saying.). I ended up making a whole dollar and some change. I was just happy not to have to pay the 15% Target restocking fee.

I think that, like most on here, the thrill of the chase was far more gratifying than anything else.

You care so much to call the person who goes to the counter after you a scalper, when you have literally no idea what the intentions of the other person might be.

Lots of folks are getting one for themselves or for their family members. So we don't know what their intention may have been, but we certainly know what YOUR intention was...

I was in competition with another iPad purchaser at Target last week. Though we both wanted exactly the same thing, he was there first and I gladly kept my mouth shut while he asked for what he wanted while I sweated out whether they had another in back. It turns out they did. It really saddened me to see the other guy think that I would try to screw him out of his purchase.

All the facts are not in front of you. That is my responsibility as the story teller, and i apologize.

While I Chatted with the register attendant, she stated that they got 5 in. The first person bought 2, I bought 2, and the security guard on Duty bought 1.

So the person behind me on line, not only displayed characteristics of a scalper, admitted it. On the way out of the target store, I told the Asian gentleman i was sorry i bought two of them because when i started my purchase no one was waiting, and what did he do and say.... first he proceeded to remove an ipad from his bag and told me "Don't worry I have 1, Well actually i have more then 1" and then opened his bag to show me he had 2 brand new ipads.

So sorry you did not have all the facts again

also i tried my best to indent and put breaks but i dont care as much as u obv if u think i type run ons :D

So you knew what he was! That only makes me feel slightly less annoyed. But hey, whatever makes you happy. It (scalping) is just something I wouldn't do.

Remember the Tamagotchi craze? I found them here and there and eventually had a dozen of them. Sold them to Japanese exchange students at my college (who were really crazy for them) for MSRP + tax.

By buying an extra and selling for a profit (above $829), you're as bad as the people whom you despise.

What a hypocrite.

(for point of reference I purchased ONE - for my daughter - and resisted the urge to buy more yesterday - INCLUDING the 64/AT&T).

I don't understand this. You disliked them for what reason then? Obviously it's not reselling for a profit. What was it then? Can't stand competition? They were Asian?

Where did I say I dislike them.
The person at target was Asian
The person I sold it to was rusian or Slavic
