Web browsing on par with a 2 year old iMac? That's awesome. I can't wait to try the Air out. Ordered for store pickup at midnight last night, but had a long work day and won't be able to trek up to the Apple Store until tomorrow.

Considering iPads (or basically all tablets) use ARM processors, that makes them significantly less powerful than an x86 processor.. Especially a quad-core i7. So yes, awesome.

I think the Air is a no go. Even though CPU power is plenty, it still can't hide the fact that ram is not enough. Wait up for 2 or 3 gigs of ram. Or get the Air and sell it by then. But of course, do not expect no lag on this device. That is how I see it. Air-lightness and 64 bit fast processor removes focus from what is still a problem.

Well, don't knock it until you try it...

On my iPad 3, I could run one intensive music synthesizer app OK, if I killed all other apps in the background, or a fresh reboot.

On the iPad Air, I can run 4 of these intensive apps simultaneously without a hitch, it's really astounding. Apps that would glitch and stutter before are smoth as silk. And this is with Safari, Mail, the App Store still up and running in the multitask view!

...

And as others have said, web pages render super fast, the Verge would sort of kill my iPad 3, but that's no more. It loads darn close to my i7 2012 MBA with 8gb RAM. :)
