Maybe by then Apple will have "ironed" things out 😉. Frankly, I'm a big Apple fanboy. I love my new 12.9, but I would not be happy to find it was warped. I wonder if this can occur with usage, not just out of the box?

People should be posting their serial numbers, especially if they are models being sent back or exchanged. That way we can perhaps isolate a bad batch or shipment.

Hah that’s clever, Apple definitely needs to flatten these guys out consistently.

I don’t know about my first 2018 iPad Pro, I didn’t notice the bulge till way past my return period but I feel like I would’ve noticed it early on because I drew on it a lot. But I can’t say for certain if the bumps got progressively worse later on.

You're about to find out first-hand. Besides, a "true" fanboy, and not some wannabe,would blame any warping on how they used their device rather than on any deficiency on Apple's part.

Not sure if this was always the case, but I just realized my iPad Pro’s aluminum body is warped twice, the two curvy creases almost looks like a bulgy box.

It’s hard to see in photos, but videos seem to show it when light is directed at it. I can slightly feel the two bulges. I’m unsure if it’s bent twice, warped, or something inside is bulging out. I’m unsure if it was the result from drawing.

I’m passed my 15 day return period, now that this Wednesday has passed. Will Apple let me exchange it?

My son's iPad Mini 4 which is had for 11 months had all kinds of problems from Wi-Fi not connecting not been able to turn on Wi-Fi excetera excetera for the last few weeks I took it to the Apple Store today and what can almost tell that is a heat issue because it warped the frame, the technician told me today that the warranty was voided because it was self-inflicted damage. I'll be it this iPad has been inside of an OtterBox Defender case since the day my son received it. They told me today that someone had taken the iPad and done the motion of trying to break it in half but the case has never been removed from that iPad as my son is only 7. Without a doubt in my mind it is a heat issue related to the battery I assume getting too hot and just like any other very hot, pre melt temp metal you can bend it and it'll stay bent. Anyone that has any knowledge of OtterBox Defender cases and the devices it is protecting it would take a lot and I mean a lot of pressure to break the case and the iPad much less warp it and I seriously doubt that a seven-year-old could do that. Looks as if I'm going to have to contact Apple relations as the Apple Store refuse to replace that unless I paid $300

This is turning out to be one of the worst products Apple has ever released. The sheer lack of any chassis rigidity whatsoever in the entire middle portion of the device shown in that pic a few pages back is inexcusable, and pretty obvious that it was going to be a problem. Not even a single rib across the device at the middle.

I received my IPP today, I decided to buy it despite these very worrying reports (this is my first Apple product) because I really wanted it and decided to take a chance 😀

It’s the 12.9 model, WiFi only and Space Grey. Mine feels and looks flat, passes the Pencil and ruler test and I checked by circling my phone light over it too, so I’m relieved that mine doesn’t have this bending issue. I’d like to check for dead pixels and light bleeding but how do I do that? I found a page with a pure black image but I don’t know how to put Safari in fullscreen.

Pinch zoom in will get rid of almost all the Safari chrome except a small title bar.

Or just save the image to Photos and view in there as you can tap the screen once to get rid of everything but the picture.

Did Apple learn nothing with the iPhone 6?

Not the same scenario it all. The iPhone 6, (More specifically the Plus model using the 6000 Series aluminum), bending was due to those were ‘sitting’ on the phone or if it was in their pocket with some force applied to cause the bending.

The bending with the new iPad has already occurred _before_ the user even takes it out of the box, where it happened somewhere at the factory either during assembly or when the aluminum was manufactured. Either way, Apple needs to:

1.) Strengthen the internal chassis with a support beam/bracket where the bending is happening.

2.) Upgrade the aluminum to a similar variant of tbe 7000 Series used on the iPhone 6s/7.

I'd buy from best buy as they have an extended return period right now. My IPP11 had dead pixels out of the box. My return window due to my Best Buy status is up until mid February. I plan to exchange mine later when there's a better answer for the bends and also why screen protectors disable touch sensitivity.

My warped iPad Pros, for a majority of them, feel flush and flat. It’s hard to feel, unless you had one like mine that was noticeable. The best way to see the warps on the back is to the position the iPad the same way as my photos, same perspective, and same lighting environment (mostly dim room, with soft directional light to shine the bulge and cast a shadow behind it).

For back lighting issues, go to a dark room and save a solid black image to your library. Zoom all the way in and raise the display’s brightness level.

I got my iPad Pros at the Apple Store somewhere in Alberta. Two different cities in a span of a month. Seems like this is common in my province.

Just received my iPad Pro that I ordered from the online store last week, and received yet another warped unit. :’)

Not only that, but it came with a drill blemish near the SIM slot cutout.

And I noticed after picking up the iPad Pro from the surface, it results in the display rippling with a bright light. Noticing that a lot of these units tend to have uneven backlighting, mostly near the top left corner. Some units also have a mild white spot in the center. Out of the box, this unit appeared to almost have a ‘spotlighting’ effect in the edges but slightly disappeared when the device had warmed up from the cold.

Apple’s QC for this iPad is awful, but I love the new iPad Pro. Makes me wish I just kept my first one, cuz all these displays have some backlighting annoyances. I’m also having a tough time believing that there are iPad Pros out there with no warping issues.

Anyway, I’m going to exchange because I don’t want that blemish and the rippling of the display.

Oh my freaking god this makes total sense and makes me wanna return my iPad Pro. The metal shell is so thin it probably can’t handle the force of the magnets very well therefore it warps the metal. At some point it’s gonna be a bent mess. Can you imagine having this for a year? 2 years?

I got the 12.9'' and it was a little bit curved out of the box and has a slight bump on the back like in your pictures. It works fine, but I have noticed the battery seems to drain very quick, especially in standby it seems to drain way faster than any other Apple device I have owned. I have only had it for 6 days so I am going to take it back this week and just get a refund rather than trying to swap for a new one most likely.

Perhaps. The ones I’ve seen in person were all cellular, as well as other people’s warped iPad Pros.

Sounds reasonable enough to me. You got until Jan 8 if you purchased it recently though.

Just got my new iPad Pro 11 inch(Wifi only) from best buy will have to see if its warped..seeing all this has me worried but Im good til January 27th..from what I understand about warped, it just looks weird in the back like its rippled? The images people post here I can see but its kind of hard to tell so just need to know exactly what to look for
