good deal, apples always pretty well with their customers

Just returned from the Apple Store.

They plugged it in to run some diagnostics and it was so messed up they could't do anything with it... it gave them blue screen on one start up attempt, then it froze on a black screen, which started flashing between the black and blue screens....

The tech, looked it over, no physical damage nothing... he said he's never seen anything like it...

I showed him some iPhone pics I took of the laundry list of random error messages I was getting trying to restore it via iTunes and all he could do was shake his head.

So here I sit with a new iPad.

Hope your new one treats you much better! Given the obvious problems woth your unit I can totally sympathize with tiur frustration. But it's always hard to assess overall product quality based on a single experience.

I had an iPad screen that was ok but was a bit dim along one edge. It wasn't awful, but I would notice it and so I took it in and asked if there was anything that could be done. I was within my 14 day return window, so they simply did a straight exchange, and the new one has been spectacular ever since.

Consequently, I firmly believe that people who express frustration and disappointment usually deserve the benefit of the doubt as there truly can be some problematic units. However if you have gone through countless replacements and always have a glaring issue, either you are extremely unlucky or are perhaps the devices underlying technological limitations don't suit your needs (and I don't mean that as an insult as some people are more discerning to specific features). Overall, there are 'good' devices out there, and you should check out more than a single sample before giving up on it altogether.
