Thanks for the reply. I asked because earlier this year I dropped my 6S+ (which was housed in the Apple leather case) on a marble floor (hotel lobby). The phone landed face down...thanks to the smooth floor and the lip of the case, there was no damage. I rarely drop things - but sometimes things just happen. That's why I would be afraid to use a phone without at least a minimally protective case to lessen impact on hard surfaces when dropped. So I wonder if tempered glass screen cover + 3M film would have been enough to keep the phone intact (with just a screen cover replacement needed) in the same scenario.

Yes, just having glass screen protector and 3M film body protection is not enough for protection in case of falls. That is why I use leather sleeve pouch. When I am not using the phone, it is normally in the sleeve pouch. It is only when I am using the phone that it is not in the pouch. I should have put the phone in the sleeve pouch at night when charging. I normally do, but like I mentioned earlier, the 3M film needed some time to dry up as it was still a big sticky at the corner edges which was attracting the felt from inside the sleeve pouch. Sad thing is that it was better and I should have starting putting the phone in the pouch over night. Oh well, it had to happen.

Overall I am very careful when handling my phone and since the last 2 years since iPHone 6 Plus I have been very careful except the unfortunate incident this morning, due to the charging cable. May be it should have not be kept so freely on the desk next to my bed.

Particularly in the second photo that looks like a typical scratch to the film I would expect to see.

If you're using any of these films it's extremely unlikely that the phone will be scratched without the film being punctured or torn. So if the film seems to be still in one piece with no tears or holes, your phone will be fine.

Hey OP: This is a forum and thanks for your posting. Forget about the flamers. Glad you took some precautions. Good luck with your phone.

Hi guys!

I went to the shop after work today to show them my phone. They took a look at the phone and the first thing they said after a quick look, is that you should be fine. It was a sigh of relief.
Anyway, they took the film on the sides out and showed it to me. There were no scratches at all. They then showed me the film and it was not even torn. Just a mark on the film itself. The 3M film really saved me. I then asked them to check the back of the phone at the top right corner. Would you believe that it was only a dirt back which was wiped clean with liquid cleaner at the shop.
The camera lens is fine, too.

So all in all, I got lucky this time. The only worry if any now would be internal damage, but I am being positive. Don't wish to use my Apple Care+ coverage so early. To be honest I have never ever had to use Apple Care+ before but yet I buy it for all my Apple devices.

Now with the new 3M film on the sides of the phone, I have to let it settle as there are some air bubbles here or there which will need a couple of days to go away. That means I can't put the phone in my leather sleeve today. Hopefully tomorrow it should be okay to start using the leather sleeve.

The store informed me that they are getting stock of the camera screen protector tomorrow, so I will have to drop by their shop tomorrow to add that for my camera and then I am all set.

They also will be getting the rings for the home button but not sure if I should get one. Last year I got the gold ring for my iPhone 6s Plus Space Grey. I got a matching gold ring for the camera, too. This year only the home ring is releasing. Should I get one? If so which color will suit the Jet Black phone?
They said they will have black, red, silver, rose gold and Gold

That film was clutch. But I could never imagine myself using anything like that on my phone. It's just, to me, awful and ruins the whole experience. Nice to see it come in handy for those who do use it, though

Yeah but that is the only way I can have minimal bulk or no bulk at all.

I like to rock the phone in these leather sleeves. I have one from last year and 2 arriving tomorrow.

Some people just value the things they buy and use. There is nothing wrong in that. Some people think money is nothing and just enjoy life. Not everyone is the same.

You started a whole thread because you dropped your phone? What is America becoming? That's pretty lame!

A coddled, PC, no-responsibility, no-accountability cluster**** of adults with the mentality of children.

If you notice, the OP immediately lashed out at you for not catering to his attention-craving, as if you're the ridiculous one for pointing out his behavior.

OP, find something better to worry about with your time than scratches on your scratch-tastic phone. That came with a warning. Up front. ABOUT THE HIGH RISK OF SCRATCHING.

I don't think you're over reacting. It's a $1000.00 investment and I take care of my iPhones in the same respect. You spend that kind of money, you want it to look nice and your liking. Nothing wrong with that. I usually can sell all my iPhones in mint condition being how well I take care of them.

Some treat their iPhones like trash and abuse them. That's fine. Others are more respectful to their devices and take of them. Everyone is different.

Some people have the ability to use a phone, which is a tool, without damaging it. Just because a few psychos are so OCD that they let the POTENTIAL for a scratch consume their lives it doesn't mean all those who don't are treating "their iPhones like trash". It's a device. A tool. A product. It does not need "respect" or worship.

It's a phone. Use it. Preferably to call a therapist to make an appointment.

Go for it MCube74, at least it's not a poor dog you're accessorising to death. :)

I already mentioned earlier that all is good and lets get on with our lives and yet people still want to go back and start the discussion again. What is the point? Want to show that you are cool that you think of the cheap $1000 phone is nothing but just a phone. It has no importance because it is just a cheap tool that means nothing because money is nothing as it can be obtained by just snapping our fingers.
I know times are changing and the value of a dollar is no longer the same as what it used to be many years ago, still there are many who value what they buy.

In all honestly if the thread is useless to you then just ignore it. Why after readying the topic of the thread, you go through the whole post and then also take the time to say that it is all a waste. Ok fine, it was a waste of my time. How about yours? Did you take the extra step to tell me that and in the process wasted more of your time.

Once again. Lets end this. My phone is fine and lets get one with our lives.
