What I would do would be to report it to the management and have a copy of your receipt/serial number handy. If you see somebody using an iPhone, ask politely if you can have a look at it (pretend like you're interested in getting one). If they're apprehensive about letting it out of their hands, report it and and have management check their serial number.

I don't know much about office politics but this just may work. That is, of course, if the thief hasn't sold it already.
To be fair, asking to look at it would be just like accusing them of taking it, and if they know your iPhone was recently stolen, it could just cause problems.

Thanks for rolling your eyes at me. Mature.

Unless he was an idiot and wandered around the office saying "My iPhone wandered off, have you seen it?", how is everyone going to know? And it wouldn't be accusing them. It would be interest in seeing if the interface was to his liking because he's thinking about getting one (again, if everybody in the office isn't aware he had one in the first place).

Periods are actually a GOOD thing in grammar. Forget about the female kind you've heard about.

Man that sucks. I have just been burgled so i understand how you feel. My advise is report it to the police and and give them your IMEI number and permission to trace your phone. I wouldn't hold your hopes up but worth a try (they had no joy with ours).

I had a simlar thought with my stolen macbook, waiting for it to come on line so i can access it via back to my mac. Luckily they did arrest the guy and i got the Macbook back but it was at some other guys house waiting to be wiped which is probably what they will do with your iphone before they use it.

Yeah, I work in a school and someone was ballsy enough to walk into the Dean of the school's office in the middle of the day and take her iPhone off her desk.
Of course, she bought another, cause she's rich...There are quite a few of us "lower folks" that have iPhone's. Glad it wasn't mine! But that really has got to take some balls to walk into her office. Really thinking it MUST be someone who works here and works with her a ton, so as to have a reason to be in there.
I feel for you! But at least the new one will be out--so if you have to pony up money, at least you're getting something new!

Isn't the iPhone like other phones, if you tell the Phone Service ATT, T-Mobile etc it was stolen, can someone still Activate it, I mean I know this happens, but with a Verizon phone if you report the ESN stolen, no one can ever activate it, this happened to me when I was returning a replacement phone that Verizon never received back, so they put a lock on the ESN so no one can use it, and if someone tries they contact the local authorities right away.

People Really Suck, especially if someone is just playing a joke, that is why mine never leaves my side, ever ever ever, $299 White 16GB, but the thought of buying one at Full Retail and having to deal with reloading it...uggh I would Go Postal...

God Luck

AFAIK, if the SIM is in it when the lock is placed the IMEI is blocked so the iPhone can't be used on any network. If it isn't, just the SIM card will be locked. A smart thief would immediately remove the SIM card. I'm not completely sure of the above, can someone confirm?
