Set up face id, was using animoji and it just went to a black screen. Tried charging, tried connecting to my laptop, diff button combinations to wake it up (power off combo). Nothing is working. Any suggestions?

Battery wasn't low. But I'll leave it plugged in and see if it fixes the issue

Xs shipped with 11.0.3? Can see the dark screen happening as I believe the crashing SpringBoard bug was not corrected until 11.1. Had something similar happen to me and my 8 pre-11.1, the up/down/power combo got things working again.

Doesn't work. :/

If your laptop/itunes doesn't recognize the device than it's faulty, and you should replace it.

Depends. If you have a nearby Apple store you can check their inventory online.

They should have replacement devices. When you get an exchange you don’t get a new nevice anyway.

Shouldn't they have stock reserved for issues like this

Depends on what is the issue and who you talked to. My story about a replacement day exchange occurred in 2015 with a 6S Plus: I had someone else's Apple info on my Apple ID. So I thought my phone was used and repackaged into a new device box. The Apple Store asked me to come in, they tried to solve the issue, and then gave me a new device.

The only reason why somebody else’s Apple ID would show up after you log into yours would be because you acquired something online, or from somebody you know, that was purchased under that person’s account.

Apple stores generally have retail units allocated for exchanges. The Genius Bar will not have replacement devices this early into launch.

Weirdest thing how their email showed up. Didn't really think much into besides just getting immediate help from Apple and a quick exchange. Apple is really good with support.

There was an issue a while back with phones getting linked to random iCloud accounts. Had it happen on my 6S after a factory reset at an Apple store while getting support, had to show my original receipt (luckily I had another device with email access on me). They had to jump through hoops to fix that issue and then fix my power button.

That’s no good. Are you going to take it in?
Yes, not sure if they will have replacement. Debating on getting iPhone 8 instead, the phone was not easy to use for me. You would basically have to learn a whole new way of using iPhone.
