Let me tell you about my iPhone and how I believe this is the worst iPhone ever manufactured.

I have hollow sounding speakers which are far to loud and offer zero bass, my X sounded better.

I have a glass back panel that likes to creak and make noise when wiped with a microfiber cloth.

I have video playback issues where the video stutters and isn’t smooth.

The screen of the Xs Max is far more yellow on True Tone than my X ever was.

For nearly 3K how does this phone even exist? Is there zero quality control this year? My iPhone X from last year was perfect.

To make matters worse I took it back to my carrier and explained all the issues and they told me there’s nothing they can do! That they don’t see anything actually wrong with my phone. Fml.

In New Zealand the 512gb model costs 2,799. Granted I am paying it off monthly thought my carrier but that’s how much I’ll be paying. For that cost I expected better. This is the first iPhone I have ever owned that’s had any issue let alone multiple

You forgot to mention the poor LTE data reception.
Just return it and try a Note 9.
And the whole I took it back to my carrier story is suspicious because you are within your 30 trial heck you are within 14 days if release. Just return it.

I swear I must be the only person in existence that’s only had one "bad" piece of Apple hardware over more than 30 years of buying from them.

Desktops, laptops, MessagePads, iPods, iPhones, iPads, new and refurbed, "they just work"ed out of their boxes.
Are people looking for "problems" or being influenced by the few people who got bad phones? Are they creating their own problems or could their 3rd party equipment be a problem?

Since the new phones came out it’s been nothing but a parade of claimed "problems".
I’m about to give up MacRumors for a while to leave behind all the negativity.

Here’s one happy Max owner - great connection through carrier, great photos, wi-fi always at max, bright screen, no scratches, no extraneous glue, no "creaky" enclosure, etc., etc.

Haven't had any issues with my XS Max. Now on the other hand, my girlfriend just picked up an X 256gb last month and is having a ton of issues with it (in comparison, my X never had issues).

All those issues tAke it onto an Apple Store they exchange it

My XS max had issues as well. First one the back plate as raised in one corner. Second one had signal issues. Dropped WiFi. Would drop calls all the time. Finally I just returned it outright. Got the XR and all was great. Wife stole that. Now I have a XS. XS has zero issues. Hopefully it stays the same

Only issues I have with Xs Max is the ****e bluetooth. iphone 8 works fine everywhere in my car (audi a3 saloon 2016 model). Xs Max works fine if put in the centre area or in my pocket. However, I like putting my phone under the dash in the cup holder where I can easily see maps while driving. This is where the Xs Max cuts in and out and makes listening to podcasts or music in apple music a pain in the a$$ - I buy music in iTunes and play from local storage so not internet related. I hope they can fix this with software, otherwise they put ****e blutooth capability into XsMax.

I do not use a case on any iPhone including Xsmax so nothing there to interfere.

I haven't had any issues. I'm not sure the speaker and the screen tone are even issues for you? I'd never expect a phone to have any bass at all no matter the brand. And for screen color you know you can adjust it, right? You have options to make it look bluer or colder or warmer or whatever you'd like.

For the video issues, do you have another phone to compare side by side?

This.

I’ve purchased a ton, and I do mean a ton, of Apple products over the past 10 years. Every iPhone (including the OG) except the 3G, MacBook Pros, iMacs, iPads, etc. If Apple had massive QC problems, I’d know about it.

The only problem I’ve EVER had with any Apple product was my iPhone 4, and that was after 10 months of usage. iOS thought the “volume up” button was being pushed even when it wasn’t. Drove 2 hours to the nearest Apple store and they replaced it for me, no questions asked.

It’s not to say that problems won’t occur when you’re mass producing any product, particularly electronics...but damn, people are so picky on this forum that I can’t help but laugh at the stuff they point out.

And to OP: the only “issue” you’ve presented is the creaking, and I’ll bet my dollar to your dime that it’s not nearly what you make it out to be.

I am just curious. Should your experience speak for all others? Is it not possible that other people won't share your positive experiences? I do agree that many folks look for issues, but that does not account for all the people and all the issues currently being experienced with many of Apple's products. At least in my opinion :)

Trade it in for Android. Why even buy iPhone.

My XS has none of these issues, you clearly got a bad one. Just get Apple to swap it for you and call it a day.

$2800 is insane for a phone, i'd return it and either get the most basic 64GB XS or something else.

I had to reply jagolden,

Ive been using Macs since the mid 80's. I have also had almost every iPhone iteration since 2007 and several countless iPads. I currently have a loaded 13" MBP and a loaded iMac. To date since the 80's I have yet to have ANY issues whatsoever with my Macs.

iOS products on the other hand......THE WORST!! by fay the poorest quality control products I believe I have ever purchased.. I continue to use iPhones still but only because most of my immediate family uses them. I recently traded in my iPhone X for the XS Max 3 weeks ago. I have lost count now how many XS Max's we have opened in the Apple store to find scratched displays, dust under the camera lens, sharp edges, SIM card trays not flush, loose buttons, poor signal, bad batteries, blue plastic film of some sort sticking out of the gap between the glass and stainless steel surround, creaking backs, you name it....Very sad.

Sorry to read of your problems, I can only go with my experiences, even with iOS devices and regular iPods. The Max is still looking and running mint, even old iPods are running great (still have my 1st gen Shuffle). Just ordered two refurb Touches that I expect to look and run great for at least 5 years.

I don’t understand the complete disparity in people’s experiences this time around. I will admit, due to a confluence of bad timing, I had a post-order/pre-delivery email with TC that was passed on to the head of Customer Service. Maybe they walked mine through extra carefully.

Hi jagolden,
Gosh I'll tell ya......I wished my story was different. It kills me to not be able to find a single iPhone without issues of some sort. Apple has been amazing to work with at the retail level with a few different stores no question. What I simply don't understand is how these things leave the factory in this condition..There must not be a final inspection

Thats not me Cdm, but I'm not far behind him...LOL

It’s just as valid as a poster who says Product x is crap because of of a perceived or real negative N=1 experience. Especially if it’s a new account and never seen again.
