My launch day iPhone has a small scuff mark on the side bezel out of the box, I have contemplated doing a swap, but my battery life has been great and the phone is performing perfectly so I have decided to keep it cause I don't want to risk getting one that has other more seriouse problems. Plus I do have apple care plus, so I could always exchange it later once they have perfected the manufacturing.

It's actually sad that people are afraid to return their defective phones for worry of getting a worse phone.

And I do seriously apologize for sounding like a douche. I have no idea why I'm getting so easily agitated around here lately. In person, hardly anything bothers me to this end. Or maybe I just bottle it up inside in person and I let it all come crashing out online. I think it's a side effect of being enlisted in the military and not being an officer.

No worries, I might have overreacted to all the neg comments that came at once.

So going back to the issue at hand. After charging and decharging the battery of the phone 5 times or so since Ive had it my battery life has improved drastically. The first day or so the phone died on me in about 3 hours. After a couple of full charges the usage time increased by another couple hours and today heres where I am so far:

current batt: 88%
Usage: 1 hour 14 mins
Standby : 5 hours 13 mins.

I can post a pic if anyone wants to compare

It is anodized aluminum. It will get chips and scratches, period. If you aren't comfortable with that this simply is not the product for you.

Chipped out of the box sucks though I agree with that.

Personally, I would keep taking it back until I found one that was free of blemishes. You're just holding Apple to the same standard that they themselves highlighted in the iPhone 5 video.

I agree and thats pretty much what I did. Found the one I wanted and the battery life is improving by each full charge cycle
