well thanx for your help
i think i did mess it up when i turned it on
i left it for the week and it turned on
no wet spots, no lines
but all i could see was a white screen.
now it does not turn on at all

should i send it to apple?

Apple isn't going to do anything for you. You will simply need to buy a new one.

LOL, after reading the last few posts, I just had a werid idea of using a SHAMWOW to dry the thing :p. I have one at home and its more like SCAMWOW. "50% of coke right there guys, just lay it, not doing anything and it will absorb 70% of that stain. ITS REAL TIME FOLKS."- Vince Carter (The guy that advertised the shamwow, btw, the guy got arrested for raping a prostitude.)

Let it just dry, try using a hair dryer on low power. Not too close to the iPod just to make it warm not melting hot.

He didn't rape a prostitute.

He assaulted her after she bit his tongue.

i am going to take it to best buy so they can open it
maybe something unplugged or something
it's worth the shot i think..

You think they'll believe the toilet was clean? I wouldn't open it, imagine what reside may be festering within!

I still reckon you should check your house insurance policy, failing that the re-furbs are cheap at the moment!

i don't think the house will cover it

when ever i connect the ipod touch to the mac it opens itunes but tells me that it tells me
Name: Ipod
Capacity: N/A
software version: N/A
serial number: N/A

Stupidity :( Wet Ipod - Dark Screen

I put my ipod through the washing machine and without thinking i turned it on when i discovered it in my pocket. It turned on and it played music, it showed text and picture perfectly, but the screen was dark, it was just like the back light wasn't on. So I turned it off and blow dried it and have stuck it in a bag of rice.
I'm planning on leaving it there for a few days.

What should i do now?
What broke?
Is it likely that it will be cost effective to fix it if the light doesn't come back on?
:(

Bury it in a bag/container of rice. It will help absorb the water...

And, QUIT TRYING IT. Let it dry out for a few DAYS.

ETA: I bumped my phone (off my belt holster) in the toilet a few months ago.... first phone i've "destroyed" in over 15 years of owning one. HMPH. I had insurance on the phone though...

I did exactly the same as you but my phone and ipod touch fell in there! ive let them dry out for a whlie i switched on my phone and it was completely fine work liked it did before i dropped it in the toliet but i havent turned on my ipod yet ive let it dry for about a day now how much longer should i let it dry for. and btw the sensor thing in the headphone jack is still completely dry probably because it was only in there for 2 secs. can anyone help me ?

Check your water sensor at the headphone jack. If it has turned color, your iPod touch has water damage. If it's so, you have to replace it at an Apple Store. ( You have to pay )
