Ahhhh so it's just a failure? I tried repair disk and everything. And I have to pay to send this piece back.

Yes. You will get a working one. I ordered my Vertex 3 not too long ago. The first one they sent me was DOA so I had to exchange it for another one. The second one works fantastically.

Good luck!

Good to hear! Thanks

Put the drive into another computer before you return it to double check. There has been A LOT of issues regarding SATA 6Gbps drives and the 17" MacBook Pros especially in both the optical and main bay.

Okay soooooooo I got my new one today and same thing. Lol I did not see the other post about putting in another computer first. But I am concerned now cause I do have both SATA-III 6G ports and I just can't boot from the SSD in the main drive. I put in the OptiBay and as of right now it works okay. But this isn't how I want it. Any other ideas? Should I call Intel? Bring to apple? Any help would be awesome guys. Thanks

Edit: 1st one did not work on 10.6.7, 2nd did not work on Lion DP4 10.7

Pick up a new cable from ifixit or try the OWC shielding kit. Either is only like ten dollars and worth the try...

But SSD in the optical bay, even if it's SATA 6Gbps, tends to negotiate at 3Gbps or flakes out. There's been reports that 6Gbps does not work in the optical bay for 15" and 17" MBPs.

Lol this is so messed up. I have it in OptiBay and it's running at 6G. Tried to install Lion on it from USB and failed and then would not show in disk utility until I un-attatched the cable and then re-attach. I will try one more time in optibay if no succes I will buy that cable. I checked and its 40$ it just pisses me off I can't have it running right from the way I bought not having to MacGyver stuff.

Did not work in OptiBay either said disk was corrupt or some BS.
