YES MY MB JUST ARRIVED!!! this is the moment i have been waiting for since last summeri'll post some pics up over the weekend

just finished transferring major files to the mb. OSX is a bit different, but easy to get use to. one question, after you downloaded, say firefox, where do u put the files on the desktop? its seems to clutter up the desktop pretty quickly![]()
btw here's some pics i took during the mb opening ceremony![]()
oh never mind... the pic thing doesn't seem to work... does anyone know how to post pics?
To truly install an app, open the .dmg file, which will mount a lil "chicklet". Open the chicklet, and select the icon of the app. Drag said icon into your Applications folder.
Done. Installed,
Now, clean up the desktop by ejecting the chicklet (drag to trash, or Finder"Eject" or Right click>eject), then trashing the .dmg.
That's it.

Another question about installing: after i deleted the .dmg file and the chicklet, the chicklet reappeared after i started firefox. Every time i delete the chicklet, it just keeps reappearing as soon as i click firefox. same thing w/ the messenger. what do i do to get rid of that thing?![]()
BTW, i always thought this install method on the Mac was just terrible. First mount a DMG file, then open it, etc is not at all intuitive. When I got my hands on a mac I couldn't figure out how to install an application and had to ask someone.
Very surprised given mac's reputation of being easy to use...
If anyone here has a greasy black macbook, could you please post a pic of it at its' greasiest? Black just looks so cool, but I've only seen one in a store display where (presumably) no one had touched or used it very much.
Cheers
Make sure you can run your application from the Applications folder without the disc image showing up on your desktop. If you can, then delete or file the dmg (I tend to save dmgs, as backup).
i did this, and somehow whenever i open the application using the icon in the Application folder, it's fine. however if i use the icon on the dock, the disk image shows up on the desktop again. anyone know what's happening?
