Hello!

My macbook started freezing every time I started it. MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)

I did the usual, reset PRAM and SMC, even reformat, etc.

After doing that, I noticed that if I kept moving the mouse, my computer would no longer freeze. if I stopped moving the mouse, then the computer would freeze again.

The computer doesn't have this behavior if I start it in safe mode.

That's really annoying!

I have exactly the same problem for a mid 2014 Macbook pro..

Everything is working well If I move the mouse or watch a video but it crashed 2 s after I stop..

Did you solve your issue?

Did anyone manage to fix this ?
I have exactly this issue on our iMac 27"
Weirdly youTube works fine on my login, but on my sons log in youTube will play full screen right until the mouse cursor vanishes, then the sound continues to play but the video freezes.

Same video in my account works fine. Very bizarre. It's not like my sons profile does anything different.

If the problem doesn't happen when booting into Safe Mode, then that warrants some digging into.

What I'd try if I were you is boot into safe mode, and take a snapshot of the all the kexts it loads (about this mac->system report->software->extensions), restart, and log in without safe mode and take a snapshot of all kexts loaded and compare the two. You'll end up with a list similar to the one above. Please note that I'm running Sierra 10.12.6

At this point, if SIP isn't disabled then it's better to disable it before proceeding.

What you'll want do next is go to /System/Library/Extensions and move those kexts to another folder, and then start terminal and type in

Once you've identified the problematic kexts, you can temporarily remove the kext(s) in question and restore the rest, in order to have a temporarily functioning laptop. You can then research some more about what the kext exactly does so you can understand why it's causing your mac trouble and which hardware part it's controlling which might be defective.

I have the same issue, it's a good idea, but (at least for me) it's completely impossible to do anything outside the safe mode. is there any way to do the loaded kexts report all by shortcuts and to access it from the safe mode?

Did someone solved this?

Did someone find the solution to this?
My login is fine, but my sons have exactly the issue. If the mouse is cursor vanishes then the video play back freezes (sound continues).

As soon as the mouse is moved the video continues.
Very strange

Thanks

Hi!
I “fix” it connecting another monitor (or even an ipad/iphone with a dual monitor app). The real solution apparently is changing the display, and that costs almost like a new mac (for my model). So check if yours still has support, if not, you can try this.

I read all replies and i think that the best solution is installing Windows on your mac. I just have the same issue starting three months ago and Apple told me that the only solution is changing the motherboard for $475. However, i fix it for free by installing Windows 10 through boot camp assistant. Instead of buying a new laptop, i am currently using Windows smoothly on my mac 2013 late.
